Moanalua Golf Course is the state’s oldest golf course, located near downtown Honolulu, attracting golfers since 1898. This course is known for the world famous Amelia Earhart who landed her plane on this courses grounds. This 18-hole course is set on a massive fairway, the two closing holes are a par 3 and par 4 requiring “pinpoint accuracy.” The architect for this golf course was Damon Estate.

5. Waialae Golf Course
Waialae Golf Course, better known as the Waialae Country Club and Golf Course is a member an exclusive member only club. The Waialae Country Club Golf Course is best known for hosting the annual Sony Championship which brings in professionals and golf lovers from all around the globe. Tickets to this event are an affordable $20 for the day and $50 week long tickets.

Seth Raynor, a world famous golf architect and Charles Banks, an associate, designed the construction of Waialae. The work between these two men was incredibly thought-out and creative. The par thirteen at Waialae Golf Course is designed from a hole at the Biarritz Course in France, the eighth hole after the Redan hole on the North Berwick Course in Scotland, the sixteenth hole after the National Course at Southampton, Long Island, and the tenth whole is featured after the seventeenth hole at St. Andrews Course in Scotland. By 1930 this course was officially referred to as the Waialae Country Club and was a member exclusive club only.

The Ala Wai Golf Course is located at 404 Kapahulu Avenue Honolulu this flat golf course is located right on the outskirts of Waikiki along the beautiful Ala Wai Canal. Ewa Villages Golf Course is a very challenging 18-hole course located at 91-1760 Park Row Street in Ewa Beach. The challenge is mainly due to the winds and skinny fairways, this course is definitely for accurate golfers who are skilled at reading the wind and precision. The golf course is surrounded by lakes and streams, with some rough lands along the perimeter. Ewa Villages Golf Course is located about 32 miles from downtown Honolulu which can end up being almost an hour drive from Waikiki by car, located in Leeward Oahu. The men’s course is 5,398 yards, par 70, rating 65.2, 18 holes, and slope 111. The women’s course is 5,398 yards, par 72, rating 69.0, 18 holes, and slope 112. This golf course is a sporty oceanside course that is for experienced golfers due to the breezy tradewinds coming off the oceanfront. The Pali Golf Course is an 18-hole course located on 45-050 Kamehameha Highway in Kaneohe Hawaii which is on the Windward side of Oahu approximately seven miles from downtown Honolulu at the foot of the Koolau mountain range. The men’s course is 6,524 yards, par 72, rating at 70.4, slope 126 and the women’s course is 6,050 yards, par 74, rating 74.5, slope 127. The Ted Makalena Golf Course is an 18-hole course located at 93-059 Waipio Point Access road in Waipahu Hawaii, about 15 miles from downtown and a 45 minute drive from Waikiki. The men’s course is 5,976 yards, par 71, rating 67.9, and slope 110. The women’s course is 5,551 yards, par 73, rating 71.0, and slope 115.
