Farm-to-table restaurants in Austin are some of the best Austin restaurants to try! Why? You’ll be eating the cuisine that naturally grows in our area of the country, supporting the local farmers and ranchers, and enjoying food prepared by kind, passionate chefs who are doing their best to show some love to the food providers around them.

On top of all that, lots of the farm-to-table restaurants in Austin Texas are absolutely gorgeous.

I’m going to share 12 of them with you today, but rest assured that there are many, many other restaurants in Austin that are sourcing local ingredients in their menus!

1. Hestia

Hestia is not only one of my favorite date night restaurants in Austin, it’s also a showstopper and a must-visit farm-to-table restaurant in downtown Austin. The concept is live-fire cooking, which means that chef is using a 20-foot hearth that guests can see from the dining tables. The entire restaurant smells smoky and delicious. Be sure to get there a bit early to get a glass of wine from the Pintxos bar at the entrance to the restaurant.

2. Odd Duck

Odd Duck was originally a food truck at the forefront of the farm-to-table movement in Austin, and the brick-and-mortar is now one of the busiest restaurants in town. Small, shareable plates make perfect bites for brunch, happy hour, or dinner. (Psst: stop by during lunch sometime to try their burger! It’s constantly changing, but every rendition is fantastic.)

Barley Swine is another farm-to-table restaurant from Odd Duck’s creator, but this place focuses more on the fixed-price tasting menu. It’s a really fun date night if you want to enjoy plate and plate brought to your table without you having to make any decisions!

This is one of the few farm-to-table Sichuan restaurants in town. It’s sleek and modern inside, perfect for a girl’s night out. Be sure to order plenty of the Shanhai soup dumplings!

5. Dai Due

You’ve no doubt heard me sing my praises of Dai Due on this blog… I love chef Jesse Griffith’s passion for sourcing 100% of his ingredients from Texas, often from nearby farms and food vendors. Everything (everything…all of the meat, vegetables, condiments, beer, wine, etc.) is from Texas.

6. Hillside Farmacy

This darling little cafe inside a renovated drugstore is an east Austin favorite. It’s one of the best little lunch date spots (burgers and fries, please!) and a great weekend brunch spot for good, local farm food.

7. Lenoir

Lenoir’s “hot weather food” (food that’s mean to be grown and consumed in hot, dry climates like Texas) is a romantic idea for date night (indoor dining) or a lovely option for a group wine meet-up (outdoor garden.) There are lots of delicate Mediterranean influences in the cuisine, and the wine list is a fun one to try because they source natural wines here.

8. Emmer & Rye

You’ll Emmer & Rye as one of the 21 best date night restaurants in Austin. Upon opening in 2016, it immediately made Bon Appetit’s 50 Best New Restaurants list and it’s continued to be a popular Austin farm-to-table spot ever since. Chef Kevin Fink uses heirloom grains, locally sourced produce, and whole-animal butchery (done on site!) to create a sustainable and unforgettable dining experience.

9. Contigo

Contigo is an outdoor restaurant made to mimic the feeling of being on the Contigo ranch. Think: gravel floor, big tables for groups, outdoor fire pits, and twinkly lights. I adore the farm-fresh Texas meats and beautiful cocktails.

10. Intero

Intero Italian restaurant has earned a spot on this list because they’re always impressing me with the sustainability and beauty in their menu! The family-owned team works hard to use the entire animal or plant, producing as little waste as possible.

And here’s one more lovely Italian option for you farm-to-table lovers: L’Oca d’Oro is bright, airy, and the perfect choice for homemade pasta and cheese. They’re dedicated to treating the farmers, ingredients, guests, and team like family.

12. Jacoby’s

12 gorgeous farm-to-table restaurants in Austin Texas12 gorgeous farm-to-table restaurants in Austin Texas

Jacoby’s calls themselves “ranch-to-table” dining, and here’s what that means: the meat that you enjoy in their restaurant was raised on their own ranch and fed food from their own feed and seed store. You can rest assured that you know exactly where this beef is coming from! It’s a very “Texas-y” restaurant with lots of southern classics (steak, biscuits and gravy, grits). Jacoby’s is one of my all-time favorite brunch restaurants in Austin.
