World Empanadas

1206 Magnolia Blvd, Burbank, CA 91506
Phone: 818-561-4999
Visit Website

There are very few things I love more in this world than a fresh empanada straight out of the fryer, and World Empanadas has the best ones in the entire city.

This little family-run establishment specializes in empanadas with all sorts of different fillings.

Not only does World Empanadas offer savory empanadas with delicious meats like beef and chicken, but they also have tasty vegan/vegetarian options as well as sweet empanadas that are simply mind-blowing.

I recommend a beef empanada along with a potato and cheese empanada. If you’ve got room after that, try the mixed berry empanada.

Porto’s Bakery

3614 Magnolia Blvd, Burbank, CA 91505
Phone: 818-846-9100
Visit Website

Taking the number-one spot on my list is none other than Porto’s Bakery, of course, and this will come as no surprise to any locals who may be reading this.

Porto’s is insanely popular and always busy, but don’t let that stop you because it’s worth any wait you may face.

You can find Porto’s Bakery on the corner of Magnolia Boulevard and North Hollywood Way near the Bearded Lady’s Mystic Museum.

Porto’s is the ultimate place to grab a Cuban sandwich, one of my all-time favorites. The bread is freshly-baked and it really takes the sandwich to the next level.

Bea Bea’s

353 N Pass Ave, Burbank, CA 91505
Phone: 818-846-2327
Visit Website

When you’re in the mood for breakfast in Burbank, there’s only one place to go that’s guaranteed to have everything you could possibly want, Bea Bea’s.

Eating at Bea Bea’s is the perfect way to start your day off right with some homestyle breakfast foods that are available all day long.

What I love the most about Bea Bea’s is that the menu is enormous. I mean you can really get anything you can think of and probably some things you wouldn’t think of.

I always go for pancakes or French toast, but there are so many different kinds that it’s always a tough decision.

Cafe de Olla

2315 W Victory Blvd Ste A, Burbank, CA 91506
Phone: 818-588-3684
Visit Website

Just south of the Burbank Empire Center shopping mall near the Ralphs grocery store on West Victory Boulevard is a place called Cafe de Olla that serves up some of the most delicious Mexican food in the entire city.

Cafe de Olla is a Mexican restaurant that never disappoints, in my experience.

What I love most about Cafe de Olla is that they open early at 7 AM which is perfect for an early breakfast, but they also stay open until 8 PM so you can grab lunch or dinner here as well, depending on what you’re in the mood for.

Tony’s Darts Away

1710 Magnolia Blvd, Burbank, CA 91506
Phone: 818-253-1710
Visit Website

Up next is Tony’s Darts Away and you really don’t want to miss this one.

Tony’s Darts Away is primarily a bar with games and lots of beer on tap, but they have a food menu that’s filled with delectable sausages, burgers, wraps, and more.

I highly recommend coming to Tony’s Darts Away when you want to relax and unwind after a day of work with a game of darts or one of the many board games they have.

When it comes to food, I always go for one of their beer brats, but there are plenty of other great choices if that doesn’t sound like something that interests you.

Bob’s Big Boy

4211 W Riverside Dr, Burbank, CA 91505
Phone: 818-843-9334
Visit Website

The next place I’d like to point your attention towards is Bob’s Big Boy, a fixture of Burbank that you can’t miss thanks to their massive, red neon sign.

Grabbing a burger from Bob’s Big Boy is just something you need to do while you’re in Burbank because they do it better than anyone else, if you ask me.

Bob’s Big Boy is the classic American burger joint that hasn’t changed much over the years since they pretty much had it figured out from the get-go.

The Original Big Boy Combo is what made Bob’s Big Boy famous and it’s what I recommend you get if it’s your first time.

Burbank’s Handy Market

2514 Magnolia Blvd, Burbank, CA 91505
Phone: 818-848-2500
Visit Website

Up next is Burbank’s Handy Market and even if you’re not looking to eat right away when you get there, this is still a fantastic place to shop for groceries.

Handy’s Market sells some of the most convenient and tasty meals to go and I usually make a point to stop in at least once a week to grab one.

Every day of the week, Handy’s Market offers a different fresh-cooked meal. My favorite days to come are on Mondays and Tuesdays for their beef meatloaf and chicken parmesan, respectively, but the food is great any day of the week.

King’s Deli

109 N Pass Ave, Burbank, CA 91505
Phone: 818-561-4405
Visit Website

Right off of North Pass Avenue near the famous Warner Bros. Studio and the Warner Bros.

Studio Tour Hollywood is a place called King’s Deli that is an absolutely incredible place to eat while you’re in Burbank, Los Angeles.

This sandwich shop is unparalleled when it comes to lunch specials. You can get a half sandwich with a side green salad, a drink, and your choice of either potato salad or coleslaw for only $14.95, and these are no small sandwiches.

My absolute favorite sandwich at King’s Deli is their corned beef, but I also recommend the brisket melt.

Corner Cottage

310 S Victory Blvd, Burbank, CA 91502
Phone: 818-843-2567

As their name implies, Corner Cottage is located on the corner of South Victory Boulevard and West Verdugo Avenue on the outskirts of Downtown Burbank.

This is the breakfast joint to beat all breakfast joints, in my opinion.

Corner Cottage is a simple, counter-serve breakfast eatery that has amazing lunch specials as well, so if you’re in the area, definitely stop on by.

I strongly suggest trying the breakfast burrito or a breakfast egg sandwich, but be sure to check out whatever specials they’re offering that day because they always feature great deals on food.

Santoro’s Submarine Sandwiches

1423 W Burbank Blvd, Burbank, CA 91506
Phone: 818-848-8888
Visit Website

This next place is called Santoro’s Submarine Sandwiches and they’ve been around since the 1950s, so you know they must be doing something right to have stayed around that long.

What I love most about this place is that you can order a sub sandwich that’s 6 feet long.

It’s intended for a party or large group, but their subs are so good I think I could put a pretty good dent in it all by myself.

Check out Santoro’s off of West Burbank Boulevard, just west of Costco Wholesale and right before the Burbank Moose Lodge.

Summer Buffalo

449 S Glenoaks Blvd, Burbank, CA 91502
Phone: 818-561-4777
Visit Website

The next place I’d like to introduce you to is called Summer Buffalo.

This Thai restaurant is located over off of South Glenoaks Boulevard by the Burbank Town Center and the AMC Burbank 16 movie theater, so if you’re on a shopping spree and you need some food, be sure to stop by Summer Buffalo.

Summer Buffalo has some of the greatest Thai food I’ve ever tasted, so I highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area. Even if you’re not, this place is always worth a little drive.

My go-to order is usually the steamed dumplings with green curry sauce.

Granville

121 N San Fernando Blvd, Burbank, CA 91502
Phone: 818-848-4726
Visit Website

Right in the heart of Downtown Burbank is an American restaurant called Granville that you simply must visit when you’re in town.

I love the convenient location of Granville because it’s near the Holiday Inn Burbank Media Center hotel and the Hilton Garden Inn Burbank Downtown.

What I recommend is coming to Granville for brunch on the weekends, but it’s also a great place for lunch and dinner.

I am particularly fond of their burgers, but the dutch pancake on their brunch menu is what really shines, and it comes with bacon and eggs as well.

Olive & Thyme

3821 W Riverside Dr, Burbank, CA 91505
Phone: 818-557-1560
Visit Website

Right on the corner of West Riverside Drive and North Kenwood Street, right across the street from The Tangerine and the Best Western Plus Media Center Inn & Suites is Olive & Thyme, a charming, family-run cafe that you simply have to try.

Not only is this a perfect place to grab breakfast in the city, but the lunch menu is fantastic as well.

I really love their spicy chicken sandwich the most, but there are so many other tasty options like salads, pasta dishes, and lots of different soups. No matter what you’re craving, you can find it here.

Castaway Restaurant & Events

1250 E Harvard Rd, Burbank, CA 91501
Phone: 818-848-6691
Visit Website

Castaway Restaurant & Events is a steakhouse that you can find nestled in the center of the sprawling DeBell Golf Club up in the mountains near the Wildwood Canyon Trailhead, so if you’ve just finished a long hike or you’re hungry after playing 18 holes, be sure to stop here for a nice steak dinner.

Of course, since Castaway is a steakhouse, that’s really the only thing I ever order when I come here, but if you’re in a big group, the Imperial Seafood Tower is a phenomenal choice to get the table started with fresh seafood appetizers.

Chili John’s

2018 W Burbank Blvd, Burbank, CA 91506
Phone: 818-846-3611
Visit Website

Lastly, I want to introduce Chili John’s. This restaurant is known for their Texas-style chili that simply can’t be beaten.

What I found to be really interesting about Chili John’s is that they offer not just beef chili, but also chicken, turkey, and a vegetarian chili as well, so there’s something to suit everyone.

Personally, my favorite is the chili dog lunch special that consists of a good, old-fashioned chili dog with a Mexican soda and a bag of chips, but the chili cheese fries are always a good choice too. Just don’t come here if you’re on a diet!
