60+ restaurants with covered, heated outdoor dining in the Tacoma area – Dine Pierce County
Traditionally around here, just after Thanksgiving, we all start thinking about al fresco dining season.
Ugh. Not really.
Out of necessity, and by state order, only outdoor dining is allowed right now. It’s not fun being outdoors with the sideways rain and all, but sometimes your will to dine at a restaurant muscles out your need to be warm.
I’m here to help. I’ve compiled a list of more than 60 Tacoma-area restaurants with COVERED AND HEATED outdoor seating areas. These all are places that will protect you as much as possible from the elements while still following state guidelines, but it’s still outdoor dining with all the elements that come with al fresco dining when the weather turns on us.
Scroll all the way to the bottom of this list for patios that are not covered for that rare sunny day, but the bulk of this story is getting you under cover and out of the elements because, well, we all know that the sideways, swirly, gross rain season is here.
So grab a blanket, dress in layers, and don’t forget your mask. Before you go, know these things:
CALL BEFORE YOU GO: As with all things pandemic, things change fast. Restaurants close, change hours, etc. Message me at facebook.com/suekiddwrites if you have an addition to this list or want to let me know if a restaurant has closed.
CHECK HOURS: Always call and ask for hours. Don’t trust Google. Call to verify. The pandemic has caused restaurants to scale back hours, so always check first.

TAKE A LOOK AT THE PATIO BEFORE YOU GO: In nearly every instance below, I either include a photo of the covered area, or link to a photo of the patio so you can preview from the warmth of your house. You’re welcome. It’s important to feel comfortable with the tent, so I always say -look before you go.
MANY OF THESE ARE BARS: Call first to see if kids are allowed.
RESPECT THE RULES: Restaurant workers are stressed enough, please don’t make this harder on them. Please wear your mask when not seated at a table and respect that there are seating limitations imposed by the state.
