arizona department of real estate logoarizona department of real estate logoArizona has a terrific real estate market. In fact, according to 2021 statistics, Phoenix is expected to be the top real estate market in America for the next few years. Other booming markets in the state include Scottsdale, Tucson, Tempe and Prescott.

If you are thinking of selling real estate in Arizona, now is the time to do it. With home prices continuing to soar, agents can make a good living working in this market.

But before getting a license, you will need to get through the required schooling. In order to become an agent in Arizona, you need 90 hours of pre-licensed education at an Arizona Department of Real Estate (ADRE) approved real estate school before you can take the examination.

If you’re looking to get in on this, it’s important to know that a successful career path starts with your real estate education. That’s why getting inside knowledge from industry experts is crucial when deciding where to get your real estate license in Arizona. Our in-house real estate experts spent hundreds of hours researching, scoring, and ranking the top Arizona real estate schools.  Our experts also took into account the ratings and reviews from thousands of Agent Advice agents who have taken the courses themselves.

Pass Rates in Arizona

Pass rates for Arizona are not listed on the AceableAgent website, however, they list their national average pass rate as 94%.

Ratings and Reviews

AceableAgent has gotten good reviews across the board, generally ranging from 4.7 to 4.9. Students like that the web site is easy to navigate. They also appreciate the fact that the information is broken down into small chunks that make it easy to digest.

Students also mention that the course layout has a clean feel and that it can be downloaded through the Apple App Store and Google Play is an extra bonus.

They felt the quizzes after each chapter ensured that they were learning and retaining information. They also let them know what areas the needed help with. For instance, not all states are created equally. So, while students enjoy the interactive courses in some states, other states are still using strictly PDF formats.

The updated Ace or Don’t Pay Guarantee is also a great bonus. The policy states: “Our online real estate license course is so effective that we guarantee if you don’t pass the licensing exam after three attempts, we will refund your money. Additional terms and conditions do apply. State laws and regulations may prohibit some students from qualifying. Review our refund policy to learn more.”

There are also limited customer service hours. Reps are available from 8:30 AM to 5 PM Monday, Wednesday and Friday and 8:30 AM to 3 PM Tuesday and Thursday. They have no weekend hours. This means that they cannot provide support if you have issues on the evenings and weekends.

Real Estate Express is one of the oldest and most popular online real estate schools not only in Florida but in the whole United States. They’ve been around since 1996 as a pioneer in online real estate education and are now offering courses for every step of a real estate career – from pre-licensing to continuing education classes.

Real Estate Express offers several study packages and options for students that want to take the Florida licensing exam.

The basic Sales Associate pre-licensing course includes topics required by the Florida Real Estate Commission: real estate law, interest and ownership in real estate, legal descriptions, homeownership, titles, liens, taxes, encumbrances, listing advertising, appraisal, finance, closings, and professional code of ethics.home for salehome for sale

It’s a good option for those that don’t need any additional help to pass the exam or are taking the exam for the second or third time and just need a reminder of the content.

Students that want to get additional features and study aid during their pre-licensing phase can purchase a study package offered by Real Estate Express.

The courses contain materials that prepare students to take the licensing exam according to their needs. To offer this, they have four packages students can choose from: The Basics, Exam Preparation, Exam Preparation Plus, and Ultimate Learning.

The Basics package is best for students who already have some basic real estate knowledge and feel confident that they can overcome the final licensing exam only with some essential preparation. This package includes only the 63 mandatory hours, limited instructor support, and three real estate books that you can reference online.

Exam Preparation is for students who want to get some extra exam stimulation and additional weekly information to prepare for their real estate career. The package includes exam prep and a prep for success basic membership.

In the Exam Preparation Plus package, besides getting the extra exam simulation, you will also get chat sessions with real estate and business experts regularly, as well as help with establishing your social media presence. By purchasing this package, you will get a long list of helpful tools including three real estate eBooks, an instructor Q&A, and a printed course textbook.

The last package, called Ultimate Learning, is the package that includes the most features and study advantages. It helps students excel in their real estate career by offering a one-year professional development membership and everything needed to pass the exam on the first try. The exact content of the package includes instructor support, a 90-day boot camp and a professional development membership along with many other exam-prepping options to choose from.

Ratings & Reviews

Real Estate Express has more reviews on AgentAdvice than a lot of other schools available. It continues to receive average reviews, with the most common grade being 4/5 stars for the lengthy, broad study materials.

“Very convenient. I’d suggest to read the chapters first before answering the question so that you retain the information. Don’t rush and try to answer them without knowing the material. The test prep at the end was very useful. It prepared me well for the state exam and was a very good price.”

However, some reviews were less positive:

“Inexpensive. But that comes at a cost as the material is poorly executed and sadly not that informative.

The material is painfully outdated. Poorly written and invites you the student to make massive assumptions and guesses about the law and complicated legal procedures. Despite it being an online course, it makes no mention of the internet. When asked the best way to reach potential customers the “correct” answer is “Radio and TV” and no that’s not a joke, actual course question.”

What are the best parts?

One of the biggest perks of Real Estate Express is the cost-efficiency of their courses. They are the most affordable option when looking at all the features and study aids it comes with. It also has a user-friendly interface that allows students to take notes quickly, follow-up materials after students pass the licensing exam, and top-notch student support during the course.

What are the worst parts?

The most common complaints with Real Estate Express were about their text-heavy materials. Many of the students that took the course found the content challenging because of the overwhelming textual material.

American Realty Academy is a Phoenix-based real estate school that offers online and in-person programs. Since beginning its online program offerings, they have since expanded to include 30 states.  Programs in each state are tailored for that state’s specific licensure requirements. Students are welcome to join American Realty Academy programs online or on-site at their location in Phoenix.

American Realty Academy offers three plans for students who wish to pursue a real estate sales agent license in Arizona. While the Gold Plan offers a wide-range of resources to help you study, even the Basic Plan offers everything you need to prepare for the exam.

  • Basic Plan ($379): The Basic Plan offers everything you need to study for – and pass – the sales agent exam. The plan offers 90 hours of instruction, a study guide, and exam.
  • Silver Plan ($579): The Silver Plan builds on the Basic Plan and includes courses on real estate math and contract writing, as well as bonus study materials and pre-recorded tutoring.
  • Gold Plan ($679): The Gold Plan includes everything in the previous two packages, as well as a package of study videos and live video tutoring sessions.

Ratings & Reviews

American Realty Academy has received some glowing reviews online, with reviews of 5/5 stars for the quality of course content and the teaching methods of the American Realty Academy’s instructors.

“I passed my Real Estate Exam! I attribute my success to Jeff and his humor! He is a great teacher and I highly, highly recommend him!! He would always tell great stories to help you remember a topic. Jeff was on my shoulder during the exam, telling me what I needed to remember! The entire class could see that he truly cared about each student that was in the classroom! I completely and 100% recommend this school to anyone wanting to get started in Real Estate!”

“Excellent learning environment. Jeff is great teaching the essentials to pass the RE exam, but he also talks about interesting real life experiences. He is very supportive and if one person in the class has trouble with a topic, Jeff would not move on until everyone understands that topic. I really recommend this school.”

“I had failed my exams twice from another school and re-enrolled here. It took some work to get me to pass, but I did end up passing the tests on my first attempt and I owe a lot of it to the way the materials were broken down and taught. I would suggest going to school here if you can – it helped me and was cheaper in the long run compared to the other school who kept trying to sell me more stuff.”

Best Advantage

Of all the schools on our list, American Realty Academy has one of the least expensive package offerings. Even at that lower price point, you still get support when you need it, both online and in-person.

Biggest Disadvantage

The online courses offered by American Realty Academy are reported to be of lesser quality than some of their competitor’s products. This may be due, in part, to the rapid expansion of their online courses to include a total of 30 states.

Return policy

American Realty Academy offers refunds with certain stipulations, based on the program for which you have enrolled. For all refunds or cancellations, there is a $25 fee charged. Refunds must be requested within 30 days of enrollment, and the amount of money refunded will be pro-rated based on the number of sessions attended or completed.

The Verdict Is

American Realty Academy offers solid programs in real estate with good instructor support. Their online programs may not be a good choice if you are not comfortable learning on your own, but their virtual and live support options make a big difference to learners.

RealEstateU is a Florida-based online real estate school that offers certification and continuing education courses for sales agents, brokers, and investors. Currently offering courses in New York, California, Texas, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Virginia, Georgia, Missouri, Florida, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Washington, they have recently announced a new program serving Arizona. Their 90-hour program is designed to help learners meet the requirements for licensure in Arizona.

Using your computer, smartphone, or tablet, you can listen to the audio lectures and begin learning all you need to know about real estate wherever you may be. Their exam study guides, available at an additional cost, offer a “cliff notes” version of what was learned in the sales agent course, making it easy to study for and pass the test with flying colors.

RealEstateU offers a 30-day money back guarantee. Their website has a page dedicated to the most frequently asked questions about receiving your Arizona real estate sales agent license, with a list of requirements and contact information for the relevant agencies.

Ratings & Reviews

Here are some recent reviews from students of RealEstateU:

“It was good. The videos made it very easy; the website was easy to access, and receiving certifications is also easy. The only suggestion I have to benefit the users is for them to provide a visual representation of an instructor giving the lessons. My advice is if you are going to be a new agent this is probably not the program to go with; I say it’s for more for experienced agents looking to get licensed in a new state.”

“I did the whole thing at my own pace and that I didn’t have any technical issues throughout the whole class. I do think that they should create an app. That way it’s easier to access instead of having to get on the web on my phone. It was a good course, so make sure you pay attention to the material because it was very similar to the actual exams themselves.

“It was all very convenient completing it whenever I needed to. I had the course for two years, and I liked that I could pay so that it wouldn’t expire. I did find it challenging to complete with the fact that it was all audio. It felt a lot longer than it really was. I think including text content would make it easier to follow along, and more interaction would be beneficial than just having a monologue. Just stay diligent and study throughout the whole process. The quiz question will also be a big help for study purposes, so be sure to keep them handy.”

Advantages

The audio format makes it easy to learn on the go. The course also includes mastery checks at the end of each chapter to ensure that you understand the concepts before you move on. The price is right, too. Their 90-day sales agent course costs less than $100.

Disadvantages

The course textbook is coming soon, but it will not be included in the package price for the course. Instead, learners must buy the textbook for $29. The audio only format (save for some written transcripts) was disappointing to some students. Also, while you can access the course via your smartphone or tablet, RealEstateU does not offer their programs in an app. This makes the user experience less than ideal.

RealEstateU’s programs are not designed to be interactive. Instead, you must be able to navigate and progress through the course on your own with little assistance. For this reason, this program is perhaps best suited for sales agents who have experience in the field already, who are looking to earn a license in another state.

There are three Arizona real estate sales agent licensure programs. The basic package includes everything you need to prepare for and pass your sales agent licensing exam. In addition to the six months of access to their 90-hour online course and materials, you receive a textbook, an Intro to Contract Writing Course, and access to their employment networking opportunities.

The Career Start Package adds CompuCram Online Exam Prep, which improves your chances of passing the first time. Finally, the Set for Success Package adds math review classes and a workshop on broker interviewing.

The Hogan School also offers numerous other certification programs, such as their Military Relocation Professional Certification, which prepares sales agents to work with military members, their At Home With Diversity Certification, to help agents understand how to operate equitably in their local markets, and even a certificate for sales agents to work with the baby boomer market, the Senior Real Estate Specialist Designation.

Ratings & Reviews

The Hogan School of Real Estate has a reputation for quality and consistency. Here are some recent reviews from students of The Hogan School of Real Estate:

“This is THE place to go for the best education to pass exam. Great instructors, well organized materials, and this became my first place to begin networking which continues to grow quickly. 5 stars! Bar none.”

“I signed up for the three-week salesperson class, so much to learn and such a foreign language to me! However with all of the information and study tools, I learned so much! All of the instructors and staff were amazing! I passed the Hogan test and Pearson Vue in one weekend! I’m ready to go sell! Thank you all for being awesome!”

“I have taken classes at Hogan School of Realty Three times now. I have severe test anxiety to the point of having to take medication to slow my heart rate. I study the material and feel that I am ready, but when I test all of what was in my head hides behind a brick wall. This is so very frustrating and incredibly embarrassing. This time taking the classes online really seemed to help me relax and build confidence. I also discovered the Real Estate Workshop with Randy. Let me tell you that this class was such a blessing. The way that Randy pulled it all together made so much sense. He was even able to get through this old thick skull of mine with some of the math. Thank you Randy for making class time fun and a wonderful learning experience.”

Disadvantages

The programs offered by The Hogan School for Real Estate are quite a bit higher than their competitors. For agents who are merely working on their hours, the price may not make it worthwhile. The first-time pass rate of 80% is not as high as some of their less-expensive competitors.
