El Paso

About El Paso

The city of El Paso used to be a migrant stop that was often used for people who were traveling north, thus meaning “pass to the north” in Spanish. Making your way through Franklin Mountains State Park gives you a good taste of what it was like for people traveling back in the day. Spread out across 27,000 acres, the mountains are a popular destination for mountain biking, geocaching, and a great spot to see some wildlife.

If you feel like taking it easy but still want to do some exploring, get yourself on the Wyler Aerial Tramway. These cable cars take you to the top of Ranger Peak at Franklin Mountains State Parks, and catch some awesome views from up above as you travel up the mountains.

Butterfield Trail Golf Club has over 55 feet of elevation changes, and is one of the most spectacular courses to play in El Paso. The course gets its name from the actual Butterfield Trail which dates all the way back to 1858 when the Butterfield Overland Mail Company carried mail and sent passengers across the country. You can still see some of the remnants of the original trail while you’re playing at the course.

Lone Star Golf Club is a beautiful club with affordable rates. This 18-hole course measures 6,700 yards, and has both a lighted driving range and putting green to work on your golf game at any time of day. With a full-service restaurant and the ability to host tournaments, this is a great spot to host an outing, or get together with friends.
