A restaurant and bar for gamers, Farm + Feed, is now open in Plano at Shops at Legacy

Update: Updated Feb. 7, 2022 to announce the opening.

Farm + Feed, a restaurant and bar for gamers, is now open in the former Gordon Biersch spot at the Shops at Legacy North in Plano.

“I’ve always been a very passionate geek and a gamer,” says owner Maximilian Seel. “Over the years my friends and I have gotten a little frustrated as our games have gotten more popular and we’ve never had an actual physical place to get together and play.”

The 8,000-square-foot Farm + Feed has booths 20 booths in an area called The Village, each booth containing two 55-inch TVs, a Nintendo Switch and either an Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5. There are also 18 PCs equipped with all the latest gaming tech. You’ll find sci-fi books, more PCs and date-night couch console setups in The Library, and larger groups can gather in an area called The Bunker. There are also 100+ board games, chess boards and card games.

The bar and full menu — featuring dishes like Flamin’ Hot Cheetos corn cheese balls, pizza rolls, bao brisket buns and grilled pork lettuce wraps — was created by Matt Yuen, who serves as the executive chef for Riot Games, a video game developer.

“Whatever nerdy thing you like to do, we want you to have a place to go and meet other people who like the same things,” Seel says.

Farm + Feed might sound like a farm-to-table concept, but the name naturally refers to video games.

“They are video game verbs,” Seel explains. “To farm is to be beating your opponent, so you are farming them for more resources. Feeding is the opposite, when you are losing to your competitor and giving them resources.”

Seel also believes that with gamers playing together in person, the vibe will be in sharp contrast to the world of online gameplay, where shouting matches are typical.

“We’re a welcome space for both the really good players and the newbs,” he says. “This is a place to be social and have fun. We’ll have a no toxicity rule.”

Seel says Farm + Feed has a “post-apocalyptic” design. Expect lots of greenery and oversized structures, like booths modeled after “corrugated tin village markets.”
