The Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Program will prepare students with the basic competencies to become safe practitioners in the healthcare field. Upon successful completion of the Associate of Applied Science major in Associate Degree Nursing, the graduate will be able to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). After successful completion of this exam, the individual will be a registered nurse and can work in hospitals, day-surgery centers, rehabilitation centers, physicians’ offices, home health care agencies, among other areas.
The ADN Program is identified as competitive entry and has a selection process based on a competitive point system. Due to limited resources, some applicants who meet all program application requirements may not be admitted to the program for the current application period. Program Approval
The Associate Degree Nursing Program at South Texas College has full approval by the Texas Board of Nursing (333 Guadalupe St., Suite 3-460, Austin, TX, 512-305-7400; www.bon.texas.gov).

Delivery Method: All Nursing courses are delivered face-to-face.
Students are admitted to South Texas College through the provisions of Board Policy 3200. General admission to the College does not imply admission to all programs of the College. The Nursing and Allied Health Division offers Selective Programs with application requirements. Application requirements are included in the description of each program. In addition, some Selective Programs have a Competitive Entry selection process based on a competitive point system.
