Best Golf Courses in Las Vegas – Where To Play | GolfReviewsGuide.com

The top tracks to play in Las Vegas and best golf courses.

Looking to play the best golf courses in Las Vegas? GolfReviewsGuide.com picks out the top courses to play in Las Vegas.

Las Vegas doesn’t get much rain and it certainly doesn’t offer many ocean views. However, the state is still awash with plenty of attractions for tourists.

Casinos abound in Nevada but the largest city in the desert and mountainous state also has a fair share of golf courses in the greater area, as well as yards from the strip like the Wynn Golf Club.

Perhaps the top draw to Vegas will always be the entertaining nightlife that the so-called “Sin City” has to offer.

But for those looking to mix some golf into their holidays, there are five must-play courses that are all within a reasonable distance of the city.

They all offer a lush color of green that simply won’t be found in most other places in this hot and arid region and are among the best golf courses in Las Vegas.

1. Shadow Creek Golf Course

Shadow Creek, without a doubt, is one of the best courses that Las Vegas offers. It is an MGM Resorts Entertainment Destination.

The course, which was designed by Tom Fazio, stands out for its high quality. Still a very young course, it was only first opened in 2008 amidst the background of a breathtaking national park.

The famous golf course is north of the city of Las Vegas by about 15 minutes, using the Great Basin Highway.

As part of the MGM Resorts International, guests of 15 Las Vegas hotels can play at Shadow Creek and “a private limousine will transport you to and from your appointment and upon arrival, your personal caddie will greet and guide you through a golfing experience you will never forget.” Amen to that.

2. Coyote Springs Golf Club

The Coyote Springs Golf Club, marketed as “A Jack Nicklaus Signature Experience,” is located about 50 minutes north of Las Vegas.

A newer course, this challenging and well-maintained venue features dramatic mountain views on the horizon.

Since opening in 2008, Coyote Springs has been a test for golfers of all abilities. It is a 7,471 yard effort from the back tees with a shorter option of 5,359 yards if you want to enjoy your round.

There are plenty of water hazards on this 18-hole course with no less than 11 lakes coming into play. This venue also boasts an impressive practice facility with 13 target greens and a comprehensive 22-acre area for practice.

3. Palm Valley Golf Course

Palm Valley, located in the northwest of Las Vegas, is our top recommendation of the three Las Vegas courses that comprise the Golf Summerlin group.

With Red Rock Canyon National Park on the western horizon, Palm Valley is overlooked by the La Madre Mountains.

The course offers a brilliant test that is sometimes links in style while at other times woodland as the fairways are lined with tall pine trees.

The course is tightened by their branches in addition to the 68 bunkers that can be found on this beautifully designed Billy Casper and Greg Nash effort, a course that has been nurtured superbly since opening in 1989.

This certainly isn’t the lengthiest test you will find. The back tees add up to 6,706 total yards, making it a short course relative to some other ones in the area.

That should make those that don’t consider driving distance to be their strong point partial to this venue.

4. Spanish Trail Country Club

Robert Trent Jones Jr. created the golf courses at the Spanish Trail Country Club ahead of their opening in 1984.

This club, which stresses “balance, tempo, consistency, and relaxation,” is located in the southwest of Las Vegas, south of Tropicana Avenue, and west of South Rainbow Boulevard.

Considered a great achievement just four miles from the night light of the Vegas Strip, Spanish Trail is a must-play venue for any golf fan visiting Las Vegas.

5. Angel Park Golf Club

Angel Park Golf Club is a modern venue with multiple golf courses that are located in west Las Vegas. The club offers amazing views of the near Red Rock Canyon National Park and the Las Vegas Valley.

Arnold Palmer designed the 36 holes that you will find at this golf club: the Palm Course opened first in 1989 and the Mountain Course was next in 1990.

The additional Putting Course also opened in 1990 and the Cloud Nine course opened in 1993.

The Palm Course is the pick, perhaps a pun on the tree and Arnold Palmer’s name.

The layout of this course is not lengthy but all of moderate-to-difficult putting surfaces, ominously positioned sand bunkers, and par 3s that provide a real test.
