Recipe Tips and Notes

Attempting to dip both sides of chocolate at the same time for these DIY Dr. Seuss hat snacks, worked but was far messier than allowing the candy coating to dry on one end first.

Attempting to dip and allow it to dry on the chocolate cookie, then flipping it over to coat the top of the “hat” was also not a great success.

While jumbo marshmallows will fit on the top of the chocolate sandwich cookie, the large marshmallows resemble more of a hat.

Dr. Seuss Cat in the Hat Snack Variations

I’ve seen lots of different ways to do this type of snack. Here are a few ideas when you want to change it up.

  • large marshmallow for the head, alternating banana and strawberry slices for the hat
  • oreo for the hat base with layers of sliced strawberries and whipped cream
  • white chocolate candy melts and Lifesaver gummies

These versions are great when you want a change or you plan to eat them right away.

Personally, I love my version the most because it can sit through a school celebration without melting all over the place or turning brown! And it’s really the EASIEST to make!
