Cava Restaurant, LLC | Better Business Bureau® Profile

Be very careful making reservations, in the fine print of their “A note from the restaurant” section on OpenTable.com says at the bottom: “Cancelations or reduction in party size with less than 48 hours notice are subject to fee of $25 per guest”
I have NEVER heard of a restaurant doing this, but anyway I understand they feel to have the customer have some skin in the game… I just didn’t think they would be absolutely UNCOMPROMISING and OBTUSE about it.
Here is my story….
On our way to the restaurant we got a flat tire. It was at night and on an unlit road. I’m with my family, trying to get AAA or someone to come help us. We ended up being fine, but obviously missed our reservation.
I was shocked to find $150 charge withdrawal from my bank account today from Cava… I tried to explain our situation and the worst reasoning for not granting a refund came out of their manager’s mouth… “Well for you it was $150 but for the restaurant it represents a $300-$400 loss”. That was it… not even a “I’m really sorry to hear about your situation” or even an offer to reduce or refund the OUTRAGEOUS fee. All he cared about was that his restaurant didn’t make as much money as they had hoped to off of me
There are tons of great Italian restaurants in CT, judging by the other reviews, this clearly isn’t one, but I will not waste anymore of my time or money on them.
