Celebrity Chef Todd English plans to open a restaurant in Dallas

Todd English, celebrity chef and host of the PBS cooking show Food Trip with Todd English, has a Dallas restaurant in the works. English plans to open an outpost of his Mediterranean restaurant Olives in the metroplex, according to Eater Las Vegas.

English first opened Olives in Boston in 1989, with Vegas following in 1998. The restaurant focuses on wood-fired meats and Italian classics with dishes like flatbreads with prosciutto and fig, seafood-topped pasta, and wood-fired chicken.

Details on location and an opening date in Dallas are scant. A rep for English declined to provide additional information on the expansion.

Bushi Bushi brings fresh dim sum dumplings to Addison

A new restaurant serving super-fresh dumplings and other dim sum has opened in Addison. Bushi Bushi, at 4930 Belt Line Road, eschews the traditional dim sum carts in favor of dishes that are made-to-order, according to CultureMap. “When the food sits on the cart, it isn’t made fresh, and loses some of its flavor,” owner Patrick Ru told the publication.

In addition to dumplings, Bushi Bushi also serves small bites like spring rolls, wings, General Tso Chicken, beer and wine.

California-style taco joint is headed to Fort Worth

Jimboy’s Tacos, a family-owned fast food chain founded in Lake Tahoe, California in 1954, will open a location in Fort Worth this fall. The drive-thru restaurant, to be located at 9316 Clifford Street, will be the first in Texas. Unlike the many Tex-Mex restaurants in the state, Jimboy’s serves what it calls Mexican-American food, including the Original American Taco, a parmesan-dusted crispy corn tortilla filled with ground beef, American cheese, and lettuce. Other dishes include grilled burritos, queso fries and taco bowls. No word yet on a exact opening date for the Fort Worth spot.
