Course Details for Oak Point – Kiawah Island Golf Resort | CharlestonGolfGuide.com

I like to think of Oak Point as a Scottish-American design, with bunkers and contours reminiscent of a Scottish style course blended with features such as oak lined fairways and salt marsh that are typically more American.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2019, the Clyde Johnston-designed Oak Point was voted the 2019 Charleston Golf Course of the Year by the Charleston Golf Owners Association. Oak Point offers strategic challenges and the enhanced playing surface of platinum paspalum on tees, fairways and greens. Following a recent renovation, greens increased by 30 to 40 percent, providing more pin positioning options. A number of holes offer additional teeing areas, providing new angles of attack into the greens. Repositioned bunkers also give holes additional strategic options. Johnston describes the course as “Scottish-American,” with the front of the course more open and exposed and the back of the course winding through mature woodlands, while undulating fairways mark a chief characteristic of most of the course.
