An Ecuadorian restaurant has opened on Queens Boulevard, straddling the Sunnyside and Long Island City border.

Rincon Melania, the name of the restaurant, opened late December, and is located at 35-19 Queens Blvd.

Menu items include a variety of traditional Ecuadorian dishes, like guatita (tripe stew), fritada con mote (fried pork and hominy), llapingachos (potato patties), and a variety of soups, meats, and seafood platters served with rice.

Prices for main meals go from $13 to $22, and daily lunch specials are posted on the restaurant’s Instagram and Facebook pages.

The restaurant is owned by Lucila Melania Dutan, who helped run the former Rincon Latino at 48-18 Skillman Ave. before it closed in 2012 after approximately 20 years. Her sons are now helping her run the new restaurant.

Dutan says they are close to obtaining a liquor license, and should offer a full bar in weeks time.

The restaurant is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and until 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, but will soon open for dinner every day. The restaurant is also closed on Sundays for the time being.
