Eggspectation closes in Silver Spring

Eggspectation, a chain of sit-down restaurants specializing in breakfast foods such as omelets and benedicts, has permanently closed its downtown Silver Spring location.

The Silver Spring location posted a closing notice on its Facebook page Monday.

“While we would love nothing more than to be here each day, it is with a heavy heart that we have decided to close the expectation located in Silver Spring due to the current climate,” the message read. It was not clear whether the “current climate” referred to the economic downturn resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The message encouraged customers to visit Eggspectation’s locations in Ellicott City, Md., Chantilly, Va., or Gainesville, Va. Eggspectation also has restaurants in Owings Mills, Md., Richmond, Va., Christiana, Del., and San Antonio, Texas, according to its website.

A video posted by The Moco Show on Monday showed a sign that read “Thank you for your support. We will not be reopening,” and also encouraged customers to visit the Ellicott City location.

Source of the Spring first reported news of Eggspectation’s closing on Monday.

Representatives from Eggspectation’s corporate office could not immediately be reached for comment Monday.
