Emergency Medical Science – Occupational Extension

The Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course is designed to train individuals to become emergency medical personnel. The student is exposed to emergency patient care through classroom training, hands-on application and actual field experience.  Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be eligible to take the North Carolina and/or National Registry Advanced Emergency Medical Technician credential exam. All AEMT courses require a minimum of 96 clinical hours, which will occur in addition to and outside of scheduled class hours.

Students currently affiliated as an employee or volunteer with a state, county, or municipal public safety agency in one of the following job classifications may be eligible for a waiver of the registration fee. Please complete the Public Safety Continuing Education Registration Form. Please contact the EMS Department at 336-334-4822, ext. 50378 with questions.

Course Pre-requisites: All students must possess a current North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician credential. All students must score 12+ on the reading and 12+ on the Math portions of the TABE test or successful completion of college-level math and english courses. All information regarding AEMT course schedules, clinicals, EMS Testing, etc., will be given to the student on the first day of class. No information will be emailed to the student prior to the start of the course.
