Emergency Medical Technician

This course is designed to prepare students to enter the prehospital emergency medical services field and provide basic life support. This course meets or exceeds the requirements of the National Emergency Medical Services Education Standards as well as the recommended training hours provided by the Oklahoma State Department of Health. Curriculum includes over 144 hours of classroom lectures and hands-on skills in addition to at least 60 hours of field and clinical internship experiences. Combined with EMS Operations, this curriculum amount to a total of 252 hours.

Summer EMT Information

EMT courses in the summer begin the 3rd week of May. This is a 10-week EMT course that will end the last week of July. EMS Operations is a required course that goes with EMT and will be available as an online course.

There are three EMT sections to choose from:

  1. EMT class #1 available on Mondays and Wednesdays from 0900-1800 which includes lab time.
  2. EMT class #2 available Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 1730-2230 which includes lab time.
  3. EMT class #3 available is a hybrid course where all didactics and lectures are delivered online. You only come to classes for labs roughly once a week.

EMS Operations is also required which is an online only course during the summer.

Fall EMT Information

EMT courses in the fall begin around the 3rd week of August. This is a 16-week EMT course that will end around the second week of December. EMS Operations is a required course that goes with EMT and will be available as a traditional class or as an online course.

  1. EMT class #1 available Tuesday and Thursday days from 0845-1315 which includes lab time.
  2. EMT class #2 available Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 1745-2215 which includes lab time.
  3. EMT class #3 available Fridays from 0900-1800 which includes lab time.
  4. EMT class #4 available is a hybrid course where all didactics and lectures are delivered online. You only come to classes for labs roughly every two weeks.
  5. EMS Operations class #1 available Wednesday days from 0900-1130. There is no lab for this class.
  6. EMS Operations class #2 available Monday evenings from 1800-2030. There is no lab for this class.
  7. EMS Operations class #3 available online.
