FRANK Restaurant + Market menu in Beverly, Massachusetts, USA

Overall, this place has good food but the prices are so egregious that it’s not worth going to. You can get food just as good for a LOT cheaper. I never pay attention to the price of stuff when I go out to eat, but the prices here were too crazy not to notice.

Came here for my girlfriend’s 30th birthday. We had a good meal! The beef heart and dessert were truly exceptional, BUT…

$20 cocktails?!?! Never in my life have I seen that before and they weren’t anything special. I can make a better cocktail at home. For $20 I better be getting a smoked ice cube or something crazy. This was enough for me to decide I won’t be coming back…and we had just started our meal.

I got a couple oysters…$3.75 each. They were good…but there’s absolutely no reason for them to be that expensive. No fancy preparation or anything. This is MA…we can find great oysters everywhere for much cheaper.

$8 each for tiny pieces of cheese that came with a very small amount of accompaniments. There weren’t enough of the accompaniments for everyone in our party of 4 to have some. Unacceptable for what we paid.

Our steaks were $50+. For 10oz of NY Strip. Absolutely insane. For that price I better be getting a REALLY good steak and ours were just OK. Cooked well, but super thin cut. I had a better steak for $27 the night before at a random restaurant in Boston. Fries that came with the steak were excellent. The salad that came with it was an afterthought. Just greens with a bit of dressing.

For a restaurant that claims to pride itself on being farm to table, the menu had no information at all about where individual menu items were sourced and included a “locally sourced when possible” statement that left me feeling skeptical.

For the prices they charge, everything should have been exceptional and it wasn’t. Even for a special occasion, there are other places I’d rather go.
