On Demand Distance Education

Better Kid Care’s distance education program assists child care professionals in obtaining research-based professional development. Our distance education is accepted for PA Department of Public Welfare/Keystone STARS professional development requirements. Better Kid Care is also accepted by many states for licensing or quality rating requirements. 

All modules specifically designed for home-based and family child care providers are available on our On Demand Distance Education site.  All On Demand modules are free. A $5.00 fee is required for a certificate of completion.

Get Started with Home-Based Care: Building Blocks for Quality (PA residents only) 
A ten-hour core orientation course required for new family child care professionals in Pennsylvania. Completion of this course meets the required hours of orientation for new professionals in Pennsylvania plus mandated health and safety education requirements. (K6.2 C1, CDA6) 10 hours

Health and Safety Basics: Requirements for Certification (Non-PA residents) 
A 6-hour course that meets the requirements for the mandated health and safety training in some states. Check with your state licensing agency to see if this course is accepted in your state. (K7.1 C1, CDA1) 6 hours
