Detroit at Work is now offering free access to Google Certificates in various IT fields

Detroit residents can now pursue various Google Certificates for free to increase their skills and pursue a career in IT (Information Technology). Courses are available in five areas: IT Support, IT Automation with Python, Data Analytics, Project Management, and UX Design.

Each course will take approximately six months to complete but can be pursued at your own pace. Once completed, these Google Certificates help you be competitive for various IT jobs and begin to build a career in IT.

Requirements for Eligibility:

  • You must be a Detroit Resident
  • You must register through Detroit at Work
  • It is recommended that your math skills be at a 9th grade level or higher to be successful
  • Have access to a computer and Internet for courses (or ability to utilize a community tech hub or career center resource room)
  • Have strong computer navigation skills and confidence in doing things online

How to sign up for Google Certificates in the Detroit at Work Portal:

  1. Log in or sign up for an account with Detroit at Work HERE

  2. Click “Build My Career Skills” and search for “Google Certificates” in the workshops section in the Detroit at Work Portal

  3. Click REGISTER on the Google Certificates workshop

  4. You will receive an email after registering with a survey to complete

  5. Complete the survey based on your interest and current skill level

  6. If you are a fit for this opportunity, you will receive a link via email to set up your account on Coursera and begin your Google Certificates course
