HVAC Operator I Technical Training

This program is designed for individuals seeking a career in HVAC, and will train
participants to:

  • Troubleshoot basic residential HVAC systems
  • Troubleshoot 24 volt low voltage, 120 volt, and 240 voltage systems
  • Understand the basics of forced air furnaces
  • Understand the order of operation of how an integrated furnace control (IFC) board
    works
  • Understand and know how to properly clean and check forced air systems to have a well-tuned
    piece of equipment

After completion of the class you will be prepared to take your EPA certification
exams (Core, Type I, II, and Universal).

Class schedules subject to change.

Classes offered in-person may be rescheduled, canceled or transitioned to an online
format based on COVID-19 guidelines. Students are required to follow COVID-19 guidelines
for classroom participation, which may include, but is not limited to, use of masks

New Grant-funded Training Opportunity

This training is available at no cost to qualifying students thanks to a partnership
with Job Corps Scholars, PepsiCo Uplift Scholarships, the Luber Scholarship and the
MoAMP program. Program staff will work with you to determine which of these funding
sources is the best fit for you.

HVAC Operator I

This grant-funded program includes EPA exam prep and exam, as well as our required
Portal which includes soft skills (Bring Your A-Game Anywhere), OSHA 10, and Excel for Business,
and resume assistance.

Evening classes: 5 weeks, 4 nights per week, 6-10 p.m.
Cost per student: No cost.
The required Portal is completed the 2 weeks prior to HVAC.
Resume will be required the first day of class.

Daytime classes: 2 weeks, 5 days per week, 8 a.m.-2:30 pm.
Cost per student: No cost.
The required Portal must be completed prior to the 2-week day class.
Resume will be required the first day of Portal training.

Fall 2022 classes are full. HVAC registration will re-open Jan. 9, 2023.
