Is it right to complain about other companies?

I have a dilema. I use my LinkedIn trương mục and Twitter trương mục for business only. I have no other social media interactions on a personal level (at least of any significance). On both, I have a significant amount of contacts. Generally speaking, my contacts are professional and can be considered influencers.

If I have a negative personal experience with a company, should I air it out to this audience?

There are +’s and -‘s to both sides of the argument.

On the + side, I need a place to publicly share my own experiences and frustrations. If I don’t share them here, I have no where else to go with this big of an audience. As well, this could be useful information to people I am connected too. I am sure the products and services I buy are similar to what they buy.

The biggest plus is the amount of people that see my complaint. It gives me weight to the company I am having trouble with. This gets multiplied if it catches someone’s interest and they send it forward or like it.

On the negative side, both my twitter and linkedIn accounts are business accounts. I am not sure how people view personal beef’s. They might even delete me as a contact if I use it for personal issues.

Even though my LinkedIn and Twitter are solely used by me, I am representing my company in both. Does this create exposure for my company? Is it in violation of a social media or confidentiality agreement with the company? Is it inviting the company I am complaining about to target my company for the same? Is there a professional courtesy to not air out complaints in public?

My dilemma, I bought a pair of sunglasses from a luxury retailer. Within a month I sat on them and broke the frame but not the lens. They told me I am on my own. I have compared their policy with other sunglasses retailers. Others will repair or replace within that time frame with no questions asked. I expect luxury customer service from a luxury retailer but don’t feel its there.  

My conclusion, I am going to eat this one…..ouch!  No complaints publically from me.
