Public Courses

World famous golfer, Arnold Palmer, had a humble background and popularity that helped alter the perception of golf from an elite, upper-class pastime (private clubs) to a more accessible sport for middle and working classes (public courses). Having created over 300 courses worldwide, the only daily-fee course in the Charlotte area is Birkdale Golf Club. Located on 200 acres of rolling terrain, this 18-hole Arnold Palmer designed Championship golf course is carved between tall pines and natural streams.

Considered one of Charlotte’s premier semi-private golf courses, Skybrook Golf Club is open for public play with tee times available for reservation online. Under new ownership in 2019, several course projects that have been completed include new MiniVerde Bermudagrass Greens, Clubhouse renovations, cart path repairs, and much more.

For a more relaxing and fun outing for families and friends, Lake Norman Miniature Golf is the perfect place to go. The 18-hole course is also ADA (wheel chair) accessible. Besides golf, you can experience even more fun with their laser maze, rock climbing wall and axe throwing. After a long day of fun, order from 80+ flavors of snoballs (they even have adult flavors including strawberry daiquiri, margarita, and pina colada).

Private Clubs

NorthStone Country Club is a private club located on 237 acres. Amenities at the P.B. Dye signature course include an indoor/outdoor hitting facility complete with video, training aids and golf-specific fitness clinics, an aquatic complex featuring four pools, dining, social events, and more.

Lake Norman’s premier country club, The Peninsula Club, overlooks the lake. The 18-hole championship golf course club provides a casual, resort type atmosphere with events and activities for members of all ages, a fitness center, two restaurants, a pool, and very active Junior Golf and Tennis programs.
