Pueblo Viejo is a Mexican joint in Austin and offers some of these best tacos in the area. Everything is completely authentic and made to order. The steak quesadilla taco is top 3 tacos in Austin. When you combine a quesadilla with a taco, it’s game over. The speciality plate is a great order for lunch which includes two tacos, side of guac and beans.

Fonda San Miguel gives you the full experience when you’re looking for some good Mexican cuisine. From the Mariachi music to food, it is a great experience. The queso is so gooey and cheesy that it will melt in your mouth.

ATX Cocina is located on San Antonio Street. If you are looking for a true Austinite Mexican restaurant, this is your place! This is a great spot as the restaurant has fantastic ambience, an open bar area with great seating. The duck tacos are a great try as they are unique to the menu and are cooked to perfection. This is a great spot to share different things or to even get a single entree for yourself.

Torchy’s Tacos makes some of the most unique tacos in Austin. The trailer park is one of the classics on the menu and make sure to get it “trashy” if you love queso.

Grizzelda’s is a great Tex-Mex place on the East side. The gucamole is a must for starters but we also highly recommend trying to chicken fajitas and the skirt steaks.

Velvet Taco located in the Domain area is on a mission to create the ubiquitous taco. The spicy tikka chicken taco fits Velvet’s mission and is different.

Taquero Mucho is run and opened by the same owner of Gabriela’s. This is a fun Mexican restaurant that is aesthetically pleasing with several different signs for photos. The margs are great and the chorizo queso along with the pink tortilla tacos are definitely something you need to get if you go.

Reunion ’19 is a hip Mexican spot on the East side of Austin. They have some rad tacos for all you taco lovers out there! The brisket fries are also well worth a try if you ever decide to stop in.

Gabriela’s is a Mexican restaurant on the East side with awesome vibes and live music on their outside patio. Great spot for drinks but the queso and guac are an absolute must!

El Alma is Mexican restaurant located on Barton Springs Road and is a great spot to grab a marg after work. They have a fun upstairs patio to lounge and eat some great Mexican food. The Camarones a la Plancha was one of our favorite dishes on the menu. Make sure to also try the avocadorita as it is a staple drink and unique to their menu.

Vamonos is a ranch style tex-mex restaurant that has a motto of “simple food done well”. If you have never tried a puffy taco before, this is the spot to check out. They are made with a ball of masa that is deep fried giving the tortilla its puff!
