WEDNESDAY PUZZLE — Congratulations to the constructor Addison Snell, who is making his New York Times Crossword debut today with a puzzle that is sure to delight armchair philosophers and classic cartoon buffs alike. Mr. Snell is the 46th constructor to debut in 2022 — what a time to be solving crossword puzzles!
And if you’re new to solving crossword puzzles, you’ve come to the right place. You can consider the Wordplay column your “starter home” — that is, your home while you’re just starting out. (Although we hope you like us enough to become lifelong residents.) Wordplay has been around for almost 15 years, with the lead columnist, Deb Amlen, at the helm for the majority of that time. We’re pretty proud of the community we’ve developed here, as well as the supportive and kind commenting ethos of our readers.
So, crossword newbies: Welcome, and stick around. Ms. Amlen, Caitlin Lovinger (our weekend columnist) and I are here to help you become better solvers, and we hope that you’ll pop into the comments to tell us about your experience with the daily puzzle and to chat with your fellow puzzleheads. Thanks for being with us.
