Editor’s Notes: I’d hate to make assumptions about anyone’s personal taste but, going off Nas’ music and photoshoots I’d say that it’s fair to describe him as a fan of “Fried Chicken” and British-born footwear. Hence Sweet Chick’s delicious pair of collaborative Wallabees.

Sweet Chick, if you aren’t familiar, is a New York restaurant chain founded by John Seymour that specializes in chicken and waffles, two great tastes that taste great together.

Nas doesn’t own Sweet Chick, he only holds a stake in the restaurant. But, still, I feel like he had plenty to do with this partnership. I mean, it’s a combo of two of his favorite things, although Sweet Chick’s Clarks are much more waffles than chicken.

Offered in two flavors — toasted and well-done, it seems — each pair of Wallabees sports an upper debossed to replicate a waffle. The hairy suede uppers really seal the deal, lending a plush softness sure to make your mouth water. Well, maybe not, but the effect is pretty solid.

Flecks of color on the vamp recall the appearances of Sweet Chick’s flavored butter topping, another clever little touch.

This flavorful footwear isn’t Sweet Chick’s first stab at collaborative shoes. Five years ago, the restaurant joined with Fila for a set of Cage sneakers.

These Clarks are a little more on-brand for Sweet Chick, if you ask me — comfort food deserves comfy kicks — not only do they fit the restaurant’s aesthetic better, but Clarks are just that much more wearable.
