SANS Training Courses & Conferences

SANS was founded in 1989 as a think tank for information security. Its purpose is to provide cyber security professionals with the practical skills and knowledge they need to make the world a safer place.

High-quality infosec training, certifications, scholarship academies, degree programs, cyber ranges, and resources are all part of this endeavor to address the needs of every cyber worker. Their data, research, and top cybersecurity brains work together to provide individuals and companies with the practical education and assistance they require.

In the classes, you’ll encounter seasoned practitioners who also thrive at coaching others.

They are well-known cyber experts who share their findings, tools, and incident analysis with the rest of the globe while also providing practical, collaborative knowledge to our community. SANS is an engaging, high-quality educational organization because of them, as well as our students and community contributors.

The SANS Promise: Everyone who completes SANS training may put their new skills and knowledge to work the next day.

SANS Neurodiversity in Cybersecurity Summit 2022

It’s well-known and often debated that diverse teams produce better, more lucrative results, and in recent years, there’s been a boom in long-overdue discussion on the value of equality, inclusion, and belonging. Much of this conversation has centered on gender equity and including/amplifying BIPOC perspectives in cybersecurity.

SANS are focusing on the particular capabilities, experiences, and difficulties faced by neurodivergent cybersecurity workers at this Summit. People who are neurodivergent (ND) have brains that work in ways that aren’t deemed conventional or “neurotypical” (NT). Autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, and synesthesia are just a few examples of neurodivergence. These forms of neurodivergence are not mutually exclusive, therefore a person with ND might be autistic as well as dyslexic.

This Summit will have information created by and for North Dakota cybersecurity professionals, but it will also be useful for anybody who manages, reports to, works with, or simply wants to support ND colleagues and friends.

Talks include:

  • Dear Neurotypicals: What I Wish Co-Workers and Managers Knew
  • Neurodivergence and anxiety
  • Intersectional identities – the experiences of ND women, non-binary individuals, and people of color
  • Self-advocacy strategies, and how to find a champion
  • Time- and workflow-management hacks for ADHD
  • Combatting and surviving cyberbullying
  • Seeking a diagnosis as an adult
  • I am Autistic, but I Don’t Want to Be a Hacker
  • What Neurodivergent People Need to Thrive at Work
  • Recruiting Neurodiverse Workers: The New National Security Crisis

SANS OSINT Summit 2022

The Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) Summit will bring together practitioners, investigators, and enthusiasts to exchange OSINT methodologies and technologies. As a participant, you will discover contemporary, real-world approaches from people in the OSINT community that gather information from the Internet, evaluate the results, and use important data to achieve their goals.

The OSINT Summit will delve into the following issues:

  • Collecting, collecting, and exploiting open source information
  • Exploring the many uses of OSINT in industry/community
  • Using social media to access and collect data
  • Using tools and automated methods to speed up OSINT collection or data filtering
  • Ethical concerns about OSINT collection and analysis
  • OSINT case studies of investigations you conducted (sanitized, of course)
  • OSINT’s link to various types of research, investigations, and intelligence activities

SANS Blue Team Summit & Training 2022

The blue team is made up of information security specialists who are on the front lines of protecting an organization’s essential assets and systems from outside assaults and threats. Defending against assaults is a never-ending problem since new threats emerge on a regular basis. Enhance your existing skillset and become even better at safeguarding your company at the SANS Blue Team Summit, where you’ll learn the latest strategies to mitigate the most recent assaults!

Professionals in the blue team are experts at deploying actionable approaches for early detection, responding to breaches, and monitoring adversary activity in order to maintain and improve security over time. Day in and day out, it’s a continuous endeavor. Blue teams’ expertise and agility allow world-class detection and defense capabilities, whether they’re looking for threats, developing a defensible security architecture, or analyzing log data.

SANS CyberThreat 2022

CyberThreat 2022 will bring together the cyber security communities of the United Kingdom and Europe. The event, which is aimed at security professionals and covers the complete range of offensive and defensive disciplines, has a strong technical focus.

The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) of the United Kingdom and the SANS Institute is hosting the two-day conference (September 12-13) at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London. CyberThreat 2022 demonstrates the UK government’s commitment to providing practitioners with the skills and knowledge needed to fight against cyber attacks, as well as addressing the cyber skills gap through nurturing and increasing talent.

CyberThreat aspires to be Europe’s premier technical conference for cyber security professionals. In addition to presentations by world-renowned cyber security experts and rising industry stars, CyberThreat 2022 offers delegates many hands-on opportunities in the form of CTF events, team problem-solving challenges, and “Hackathon” challenges against some of the most cutting-edge devices and products.

SANS Blockchain Security Summit 2022

Moving future, blockchain and smart contract security will be critical components of cybersecurity strategies. Large corporations such as Walmart, IBM, Microsoft, and a slew of others are already experimenting with blockchain and smart contracts. Cryptocurrencies and other digital assets are also being added to the balance sheets of financial institutions.

New technologies frequently bring forth new security problems. With blockchains and smart contracts, it’s no different. Security breaches, fraud, and cyberattacks on blockchain systems have recently been widely exposed, resulting in billions of dollars in damages. As a community, we must learn how to safeguard and defend against these assaults, as well as how to construct secure smart contracts and custodial keys.

The SANS Blockchain Security Summit brings together the industry’s top blockchain security specialists to discuss current risks, mitigations, and approaches for securing this new technology, as well as educate attendees on how to defend it.

Internet Storm Center

Connect with the professionals that manage the SANS Internet Storm Center (ISC), a global network security information-sharing community, at this year’s 21st annual SANSFIRE event. The ISC collects information from hundreds of honeypots and distributes it to the cyber community in near real-time. Our aim at the ISC is backed up by a fantastic team of incident handlers who also provide vital resources to help your security team stay up to date on emerging threats and tools.

The ISC honeypot may be deployed on a Raspberry Pi or a virtual computer, and you can use the ISC API to import feeds from researchers scanning the internet and IP addresses connected with cryptocurrency mining. Become a member of the ISC community for free today!

Security Awareness Summit & Training

The topic that will be emphasized this year is “Managing Human Risk.” Conventionally, events intended to raise awareness of security concerns have only ever concentrated on subjects like engagement, interactivity, and gamification. Even though these subjects are significant and will be discussed, we shouldn’t lose sight of the fact that security awareness is about motivating people to modify their behaviors and, eventually, lowering the risk that humans face. Participate in this event to discover how to develop your security awareness program, from obtaining the support you require from your leadership to having an impact that can be measured.
