The Red Rooster Inn in Philadelphia, PA – Red Rooster Inn

OUR STORY

The Red Rooster Inn was acquired by Chick & Bernie Schickling in 1983. Just a little bar with a few booths and a tiny little kitchen. Chick was an operating engineer for local 542 which kept him busy, while Bernie took care of the day to day operations of the successful little bar.

An opportunity to expand came along in 2003. Chick & Bernie took the leap, because that’s how they roll–by taking chances. Chick was due to retire and he was so excited to spend time with his family and our new project. He got the ball rolling, spending countless hours planning and designing. We will never forget the day we all walked into the big kitchen and almost fainted by the mess the previous tenants left. The whole family worked together to get this new venture up and running.

Sadly, in February of 2005 Chick was diagnosed with cancer and passed away a few months later. His smile that lit up the room is missed every day. We had to learn to run this business without him, and we did. We do it for him every day. He is there watching over us and guides us through some pretty tough times. He is our motivation every day. If we are making a new soup or entree, we always say “Chick would love this!” Who would have thought that this little bar could be what is is today. It wouldn’t be what it is without hard work and dedication to our craft. We are consistent and go the extra mile for our customers, who are our family. We have a staff that works hard for us, and we are truly blessed to have them.

So come be a part of our family! We love to meet new people, and we love to hear all the wonderful compliments of our delicious, heartfelt and homemade foods! Check out our weekly entertainment line-up, upcoming events and daily specials !!!
