Biddeford Saco Country Club

Biddeford-Saco Country Club hosts an 18-hole Donald Ross course, clubhouse, driving range, and practice facility. Straddling the borders of Saco and Old Orchard Beach, the club is one of the most popular in the state, and host of the annual Maine Qualifier. Nearly a century old, but maintained and updated to be every bit as appealing as newer neighbors, the course features 6,192 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 71. Novices or those in need of a few tips can sign up for professional lessons or warm-up at the practice facility where a variety of challenges await, including a practice bunker, green, and 320-yard range. Public guests may reserve tee times 3 days in advance.

For challenging holes with easy views on the oceanfront, some might say that the choice is a (sea) breeze in Boothbay. Visitors enjoy a classic New England golfing experience across 18 championship holes. Boothbay Region Country Club opened its first 9 holes in 1921 designed by Wayne Stiles and John Van Kleek, with a renovation by course architect Bruce Hepner and expansion to the full 18 holes in 1999. Today, the world-class facility boasts a 5-star restaurant, sports bar, a pro shop, luxury locker rooms, and a state-of-the-art fitness and wellness center. The 6,466-yard, par 71 course features four luxury comfort stations along the way.

Brunswick Golf Club

Since 1898, Brunswick Golf Club has been welcoming golfers to Midcoast Maine. The highly walkable course features tree-lined fairways and immaculate greens. The original 9 holes were designed by Wayne Stiles and John Van Kleek in 1921. In 1968, Geoffrey Cornish constructed an additional 9 holes that became the front nine. The 6,600-yard course is a par 72. Brunswick Golf Club offers private lessons and an on-site pro shop.

The well-groomed links-style course of the Cape Arundel Golf Club speaks to the history of the region as much as the tradition of the game. This private club welcomes public play on the 18-hole, 5,881-yard Walter Travis design with small greens, rolling terrain, and tidal creeks. The club’s golf shop offers all equipment needs as well as personal Instruction. Established in 1896, Cape Arundel Golf Club is one of the oldest golf clubs in Maine. The club was named to the National Register of Historic Places in 2009. Cape Arundel’s rustic clubhouse, 41 House, overlooks the Kennebunk River. It is named in honor of the club’s most illustrious member and the 41st President of the United States, George H.W. Bush.

The southern coast of Maine may be at its most scenic when it frames the grounds of the Cape Neddick Country Club. Nestled among seaside woodlands, the club offers private and public golfing lessons for any skill level, an on-site pub, driving range, and pro shop as well as 18-holes of semi-private coastal golfing. Course architect Donald Ross designed the original 9 holes with Brian Silva conceiving the additional 9 holes nearly 100 years later to complete 6,257 yards of golf from the longest tees at a par of 70. Tee times are available to the public up to seven days in advance whenever space is available.

This 18-hole Dan Maples design is a par 72, 6,644-yard course covering more than 300 acres of scenic wooded coastal terrain featuring streams, hillsides, undulations, and rock croppings. Dutch Elm Golf Course offers public course with 18 holes of championship golf designed by Lucien Bourque across 6,244 yards. Private lessons are available from a PGA instructor, and the on-site pro shop provides all the essentials. Course architect William Bradley Booth designed The Ledges with both challenge and beauty in mind, and the result is an unrivaled experience on the Maine Seacoast. The Links at Outlook brings Scottish tradition to New England for a truly unique links-style golfing experience. Golf World Magazine’s Architect of the Year (1999), Brian Silva, designed the championship course around 140 acres of undulating bent grass, rolling dunes and scattered bunkers. This is a par 71 course, measuring 6,500 yards. The Links at Outlook hosts Nike Junior Golf Camps, adult clinics, and lessons for beginners to seasoned pros. Visitors will also find a driving range and tavern on property.

Old Marsh Country Club is a semi-private, 18 hole, championship course designed by Brian Silva in the tradition of legendary golf course architects, C.B. Macdonald and Seth Raynor. Opened in 2008, Old Marsh quickly ranked as one of the Top 10 New Golf Courses in the nation by Golf Magazine, and is regularly featured by New England Golf Monthly as one of the Top 25 Courses in the area. The course is a par 72 on 6,523 yards, situated on coastal landscapes near the Webhannet River and just minutes from the ocean. The challenging layout demands strategy, especially as you reach the seventh hole!

Right in the middle of the best in southern Maine, Toddy Brook Golf Course is a beautiful public 18-hole championship golf course. The front nine holes were designed and built in 2002 with the back nine opening a few years later, completing the course, which measures at just over 6,200 yards. With rolling hills, dramatic elevation changes, plenty of water, and exquisite greens, many consider this to be a must-play hidden gem! Toddy Brook offers PGA-certified instruction for golfers of all ages and abilities, and the facilities (with driving range, practice green, pro shop, and cafe) regularly host tournaments, leagues, and scrambles.

Established in 1924, Willowdale Golf Club borders the Scarborough salt marshes and the riverfront. Kennebunk’s Webhannet course is an 18-hole par 71 course spanning 6,100 yards from the blue tees. The front nine is a par 35 hosting what is said to be three of the toughest par-3’s in the state of Maine. Notable features include tidal-fed water hazards, serpentine fairways, strategic sand traps and combination bent grass-blue grass greens with subtle breaks Webhannet is a semi-private golf club that welcomes vacationing guests from mid-April through mid-October.
