FAQ

Below I have included commonly asked questions and my replies.

How much do I need to pay my real estate agent in Vietnam?

Buyers typically pay 1% to 2% of the purchase price to the real estate agent.

Should I hire a solicitor in Vietnam?

Buying property in a developing country like Vietnam sometimes requires that you hire a credible solicitor, at least for large and/or commercial transactions.

Compared to real estate agents, solicitors have a deeper knowledge when it comes to ownership regulations and they can assist you in the conveyancing process, like:

  • Checking the title – confirming that there are no hidden liens, encumbrances or mortgages attached to the property
  • Do a scrutiny check of the seller and confirm that he or she is actually owning the property, the problems are usually due to problems at the seller’s side, not the government
  • Handle communications with the seller’s side
  • Drafting and review the contracts together with you
