Utah | Top 100 Golf Courses

The Beehive state of Utah is located in the West of the United States and three quarters of its population of almost three million people live in the long narrow Wasatch Front region between Brigham City in the north and Nephi in the south. Renowned for the quality of the light, fluffy snow that falls within the state, Utah’s ski facilities are ranked amongst the best in the country.

On the golfing front, the Utah Golf Association was officially incorporated in 1966 and it currently acts as the state governing body for around 120 clubs. There are corresponding associations affiliated to the USGA for junior, senior and women golfers. The Utah Section of the PGA was founded in 1986, the last of the professional association’s 41 districts to be formed.

The course at Salt Lake Country Club is one of Utah’s few Golden Age layouts, created by Willie Watson in 1921 and it’s well worth seeking out an invitation to play at this private club. The best 36-hole facility in the state is found at The Promontory in Park City where Pete Dye’s Canyon course and Jack Nicklaus’s Painted Valley course are well-regarded new millennium layouts.
