Watch Chef Chris Cho Get Ready to Open His Korean Restaurant

Chef Chris Cho has finally set an opening date for the Center City branch of his family’s long-running Korean restaurant, Seorabol. Look for Seorabol 2.0 to start serving Korean fare like bibimbap and barbecue, plus sushi, at 1326 Spruce Street on Thursday, October 25.

The original Seorabol is in the North Philly neighborhood of Olney, which has historically been the city’s Koreatown — it’s where you’ll also find Kim’s, serving Korean barbecue worth going out of your way for.

Cho has been planning a Center City Seorabol for a while now, initially keeping the location a secret. It was revealed last spring.

The menu won’t be quite as extensive as the Olney location, but it will, like the first Seorabol, offer classic Korean dishes as well as sushi. The barbecue will be on sizzle plates (not built into the table).

Cho has been active on social media, documenting the progress of the restaurant. This week, he invited some friends in for a taste test and released a video showing the restaurant and a handful of dishes. Check it out:
