Work begins on Tommy Bahama bar at Town Center

Combination restaurant, bar & retail store is clothier’s first in Jacksonville

The first Tommy Bahama Marlin Bar in Northeast Florida is under construction at St. Johns Town Center in Jacksonville.

A building permit issued Monday shows the combination 226-seat restaurant, bar and full retail store’s will come in at an estimated at $2.3 million.

The company says the Marlin Bar will open in mid-February 2020 at 4812 River City Drive, Suite 137. It will incorporate the Tommy Bahama retail clothing store currently located across the street.

The company bills the Marlin Bar as a “newer concept.” The clothier has full-service restaurants in San Destin, Sarasota, Naples, and Jupiter.

The Marlin Bar is “a fast casual concept where you order food at the bar and servers will take it out to you.” The company says it’s more of a bar and grill — not full service like its other locations.

The other Marlin Bar locations are in Estero, Fl. and Palm Springs, Calif. The St. Johns Town Center location menu will be similar to the Estero location.

The St. Johns Town Center location menu is expected to be similar to the Estero restaurant, which has salads and bowls, a Cuban sandwich, cheeseburger sliders, tacos, desserts and various cocktails.

Two additional Marlin Bars are slated to open in November in Fort Lauderdale and a location near Dania Pointe, according to the company.

The open concept design and an expansive patio will offer a great place to for customers “to enjoy the pleasures of good food, and clearly illustrates the brand’s relaxed island vibe,” according to the company.

The Jacksonville restaurant will join 17 other new or current Tommy Bahama Marlin Bar & Store and Tommy Bahama Restaurant Bar & Store brick and mortar locations nationwide including four in Florida at Coconut Point, Jupiter, Sandestin and Sarasota.
