American Heart Association Training (AHA)
Guidance for AHA Training Network on Card Expirations and Extensions during COVID-19 Outbreak
The AHA has issued new interim guidance for the US and international AHA Training Network to address questions regarding extensions for AHA Instructor and Provider Cards during the COVID-19 public health threat. This guidance also includes an amendment to the AHA policy on renewal/update options for students whose card has expired or will expire as a result of COVID-19.
CPR Card Extensions and Resources
Over the last three months, the AHA has released resources and guidance to help healthcare providers during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, the AHA has extended dates for course card renewals.
AHA Provider and Instructor cards that expired in March, April, May and June can be renewed up to 120 days from the recommended renewal date on the card. Here is a breakdown of when those cards will need to be renewed:
Recommended Renewal Date on Card (end of month)
New Renewal Due Date with 120-day Extension (end of month)
Following the AHA recommendations, HACC offers options that can help you meet these upcoming renewal dates and help your organization maintain resuscitation competence while staying safe.
