ATV Safety

Participation in an ATV education course will teach how to properly operate and maintain an ATV. Laws, responsibilities and personal safety will also be covered. Passage of a final exam is required. You must attend every day of the class in order to receive your certificate.

Total Course = 6 hours

  • Proper Operation and Safety (Riding Skill-Equipment-Maintenance) = 2 Hours
  • Laws = 1/2 Hour
  • Emergencies & Survival = 40 Minutes
  • Map & Compass = 1 Hour
  • Self Help First Aid = 20 Minutes
  • Environmental/Landowner/Ethics = 1 1/2 Hours

Students under 16 years of age must be accompanied by parent or guardian.

When registering either by telephone or email, please be sure to include your full name, telephone number, and which course, date and location you are signing up for.

ATV Safety Institute Riders Course

The ATV Rider course may be taken in place of and Inland Fisheries and Wildlife course as a legal substitute. For information on the ASI Course, see http://atvsafety.org/atv-ridercourse/ – Select ATV Rider Course, Click on Online Enrollment, and follow prompts for information on requirements. Note: The ATV Safety Institute E-Course is not recognized by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
