The Oasis Space Pod

West of Austin, on a bluff overlooking Lake Travis, you’ll find The Oasis. It’s a tourist complex, with shops, bars and a monolithic restaurant built on several levels with views of the lake.

There are a lot of bronze statues around, but they’re generic and common elsewhere. A little more rare is the Space Pod sitting on the way to the parking garage (we’ve seen those in Florida and Idaho). A veteran diner told us it had been at the Oasis as a popular photo op for many years.
