Bandon Dunes is not only a favorite among locals on the Oregon Coast, but their six beautiful golf courses, perched on dunes 100 feet above the ocean, are renowned by golfers from all over the world. Over the summer, the coastal resort has even hosted the 120th U.S. Amateur championship on their Bandon Dunes course from August 10-16th.
Best golfing on the Oregon Coast
In the same nature of ancient Scottish links, Bandon Dunes built their scenic golf courses on a stretch of grassy dunes perched above the rugged Oregon coastline. The Bandon Dunes and Pacific Dunes courses run along the bluff for about 2.3 miles with rolling greens and a dozen holes. The new Sheep Ranch course was added in 2020 with 18 holes and breathtaking ocean views.
Their other courses include Bandon Trails, which begins on a large dune, leads through open meadows and upland forest, and then finishes in the dunes; their Old Macdonald course works its way through the dunes to the ocean with amazing views throughout. Golfers can also tee it up at the Punchbowl, a 100,000-square-foot putting course, or at the Practice Center, which houses two full practice ranges as well as a clubhouse.
After a day on the course, Bandon Dunes delivers in hospitality with their luxurious lodging accommodations. They offer a range of options including single rooms in the Lodge and Inn as well as four-bedroom cottages in the Grove. Spacious lofts on the banks of Chrome Lake are available as well.
Guests can access several lodge amenities including a hot tub, sauna, and fitness center. Their on-site massage center offers three types of relaxing massages: Swedish, Deep Tissue, and Sports. An extensive trail system winds throughout the property for peaceful nature walks with scenic overlooks. Fishermen are also welcome to cast a line on the property lakes during their stay.
Bandon Dunes has six on-site restaurants to choose from for a post-game meal. The Gallery Restaurant, located in their Lodge, features Pacific Northwest cuisine on the menu along with an extensive wine list. The Tufted Puffin Lounge is right next door with light fare and drinks. The Bunker Bar stays open late downstairs with drinks, a light menu, and a pool table.
McKee’s Pub is located north of the Lodge in a Scottish-style setting. Their menu serves traditional pub fare along with local microbrews and classic single malt scotches. Trails End, situated in the Bandon Dunes Clubhouse, offers more casual dining with great views overlooking the 18th hole and the dunes. In the Pacific Dunes Clubhouse, Pacific Grill serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, including an excellent selection of locally caught seafood.
