The Association of Bridal Consultants (ABC) is the oldest and largest organization exclusively serving wedding professional worldwide. We have been training wedding planners and vendors since 1955 to achieve excellence and maintain the highest professional standards within the industry!

Our programs provide all of the information you will need to get started to become successful in this business. Our courses and seminars are also periodically updated to reflect changes in our industry.

Our Education department also provides several single day seminars and webinars every year, plus the three-day ABC World of Weddings Annual Conference (#ABCWOW) held every November. In today’s marketplace, couples are hiring wedding planners based on their credentials. Our educational programs help you earn the professional credentials needed to stand out. Credentials are earned by the individual and cannot be transferred to another member within the same company.

Professional Wedding Planner Program (PWP)

The ABC Professional Wedding Planner program is the most comprehensive training in the wedding industry, and it is the fastest way to earn your certified wedding planner credentials.

  • Section 1: A Planner’s Toolbox – Learn about the event management process and become familiar with a glossary of terms. It also describes the event analysis process of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats and explores the event evaluation technique and return on investment.

  • Section 2: Etiquette for Wedding Professionals – This course includes material on dressing for success, preparing excellent presentations, and patterns and goals. It also explores the etiquette of dining, networking, and technology.

  • Section 3: Wedding Business Basics – In this course explore reasons businesses succeed and fail, and also business models and business plans. The course also touches on financial reporting, types of business addresses, marketing and branding, bridal show participation and overcoming objections.

  • Section 4: Wedding Etiquette – In this course you will learn all the ins and outs of the etiquette of weddings. It includes chapters on invitation etiquette, pre-nuptial parties, who pays for what, duties of the wedding party and a snapshot of wedding etiquette for everyone.

  • Section 5: Planning and Consulting – This course is designed to give step-by-step practical advice to the wedding planner. It has lessons on tracking information, counseling, consulting, getting sales, client-centered business, and types of ways that planners set fees and incorporate those into contracts.

  • Section 6: Wedding Services – This course explores the various services that are usually offered for weddings. In depth materials touch on catering, floral design, venues and venue selection, attire, cakes, rentals, music, photography and more.

  • Section 7: Rehearsal to Reception – This course covers briefly faith traditions and cultural ceremony elements, the preparations and execution of the Rehearsal and Ceremony, and the types of receptions.

Once you pass all seven sections, the final exam, and the wedding projects, you will earn your certificate of completion and your title of ABC Certified Wedding Planner. Completion earns 25 points in Education towards ABC Certified Wedding Planner/Certified Wedding Vendor status and future advancement. Learn more about increasing your designation here.
