This well-maintained course is part of the Haggin Oaks Golf Complex. It’s 100 stall, well-lit driving range is open 24 hours from May through September and features an automatic teeing system, which is easier on your back. They also have the largest Golf Pro Shop around. A second course, Arcade Creek, is also here, but the Alister MacKenzie is the more challenging of the two.

Teal Bend lies next to the Sacramento River along Garden Highway with 250 acres of natural wetlands. The course features mature trees and rolling terrain. The Golf Club offers a wide variety of services including the largest all-grass driving range in Sacramento.

This course is part of Ancil Hoffman Park next to the American River and the Effie Yeaw Nature Center, and makes for a beautiful setting. The course is relatively flat, with few water hazards, although it features tree-lined fairways and large bunkers. You may even see wild animals wandering around such as geese, turkey and deer.

Players on this 7,096-yard, par-72 course in Auburn will enjoy it’s fantastic layout. For the money, you get a gorgeous design with varied elevation, nice views and well-maintained greens. Darkhorse also has a Pro Shop, a video lounge, an ampitheater and practice facilities.

Turkey Creek’s challenging course provides great scenery and well-kept greens. The centerpiece is an old granite quarry, now a lake. Several streams run through the course and many of the greens feature tiered or sloped designs. Golfers will also enjoy carts with GPS.

The course at Winchester Country Club in Meadow Vista provides beautiful views of the Sierras and Sacramento Valley and is always in good condition. It’s part of a private residential golf club community. If you’re fortunate enough to be a member or a guest of a member, this course is a top notch experience.

This regulation course incorporates granite outcroppings, mature oak trees and great views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Several creeks and a lake also come into play on this course. The terrain is rolling and the fairways are lined with mature oak trees.

Catte Verdera is favored because of its well-maintained course and nice layout. They also have a three-tiered all grass driving range. They provide range balls and green undulations comparable to what you experience on the course itself. Their short game area includes one large bunker and one steep face bunker. Until they have completed their transition to a private club, nonmembers can golf during limited times: Tuesday – Friday and Sunday after 11am.

This club’s 18-hole course is just under 7,000 yards, plays to a par-72 and features multiple tees for different levels of golfers. It’s built on hilly terrain but allows for generous landing areas on the wide fairways. The design incorporates the natural structure of the environment into the layout.
