Chaps open fall campaign at Dallas Individual – Lubbock Christian University Athletics

DALLAS, Texas – The Lubbock Christian men's golf team opens the 2022 fall campaign this Tuesday, Sept. 6 at the DBU Individual in Dallas, Texas.

No team scores will be kept at the event, but the field is full of Lone Star Conference foes, including host Dallas Baptist, Arkansas-Fort Smith, St. Mary', UT Tyler, and Texas A&M International. 

The Chaps last competed at a tournament hosted by Dallas Baptist on Apr. 5-6, 2021, at the DBU Men's Classic in Denton, Texas. LCU finished tied for fifth overall in that tournament, with   finishing tied for 16th. The DBU Invitational will be held at The Golf Club of Dallas.

Individually, LCU returns six members from the 2021-22 team. Senior is the leading returning scorer for the Chaps, finishing with an average round score of 75.55 over 20 rounds played. Floyd recorded a season-high 15th place finish at the King Alfred Invitational with a three round score of 221. He followed it up with a season-low three round score of 215, including a five-under 67 at the Palm Valley Classic, finishing 16th.

Sophomore Tian de Jager returns for his sophomore season with Lubbock Christian. In his first season in Hub City, de Jager recorded an average round score of 76.45 across 20 rounds while playing in seven tournaments. His best performance of the year came at the Palm City Classic, where de Jager finished third out of 97 competitors with a 209. In that same tournament, he shot a season best five-under 67 in the opening round. 

will compete once more with Lubbock Christian this season. Bowen competed in six tournaments during the season, shooting an average round scored of 77.65 across 17 rounds. His best performance of the season was at the Palm Valley Classic where he finished T-74th with a combined score of 229. He recorded a one-under 71 in the first round of that tournament, his best round of the season.

Also returning for his second season is . Comer played in six tournaments his freshman season, recording an average score of 80.94 across 18 rounds.His best combined score was a 236 at the Midwestern State Invitational. Comer's lowest round score was a 77, which he recorded twice. 

Another senior returning to Hub City is . The Halluin, France native played in five tournaments, shooting an average round score of 81.43 in 14 rounds played. His season-best performance was at the two-round Farmers Insurance/Sam Proal Invitational, finishing T-35th with a two-round score of 145. In three-round tournaments, Catteau's best performance was at the Midwestern State Invitational, where he finished T-68th with a combined score of 226. His lowest round of the season came at the Farmers Insurance/Sam Proal Invitational, where Catteau shot a 71 in the final round.

rounds out the returners for the Chaps. Massey played in one tournament for the Chaps, finishing 105th at the Midwestern Invitational with a three-round score of 243. Massey's best round was an 80 carded in the final round of the tournament.

Four new Chaps will make their debut this season, with freshmen , and coming to Hub City, while Paradise Valley C.C. transfer comes to LCU for his sophomore campaign.
