This movie had two things I loved. It’s a Coen Brothers film and it has George Clooney. I think this is the 2nd or 3rd Coen film with George Clooney and this is a great collaboration. It’s really funny and there’s some really good music. This would make a great group watch.

This movie, and it's soundtrack, is a classic and suitable for all ages. Some might have difficulty understanding the strong 'Southern Drawl'.

As a born-and-bred hillbilly with a college education who was raised with the music and educated to appreciate the classics, I really liked this and would have happily given it five stars but it didn't have much of an ending.

Delightful romp through early 20th century America.

This is a hugely enjoyable, funny and witty film with very entertaining characters throughout. Clooney plays well as the lovable rogue surrounded by very effective support actors who take a kind of road trip to escape from a prison farm, encountering all sorts of situations en-route, most of them humorous but revealing the human need for love, and belonging, even if belonging means joining organisations such as the KKK. The music is an unexpected bonus for the first time viewer and provides an ambience that stays with the viewer long after. We are all different and it will not suit everyone but I am sure the majority will feel that it is time well spent and will remember it fondly for years to come.

Second hand copy in perfect condition. Arrived very promptly and well packaged.

Some nice, light touches and references to Homer's Odyssey. Music's good too. Excellent cast get the best out of this Coen Brothers comedy. I was surprised that it tails away to a Hollywood style but well worth a watch or three.

Brilliant quirky comedy with incredibly good music

It's hard to think of anything wrong with this comedy, said to be based on The Odyssey – brilliant script, cracking cast, fantastic music, chock full of quirkiness in an imagined (rather than realistic) depression-era Deep South. For me, sometimes the Coen brothers stuff has too casual an attitude to violence, but not here (well, there is a little violence and quite a lot of jeopardy, but I can live with that). Really I concur with most other reviewers. An outstanding film.

Like all blu-rays when compared to watching the DVD version or an old video one watching this film is a clearer, more detailed experience and in many cases it's like looking at the film for the first time as the film stock used to transfer to Blu-Ray is usually "worked on" first to get as good a copy as possible.
My taste in films may not be the same as yours so if you want to know about this film I suggest that you use the internet to find 2 or 3 reviews by experienced film reviewers and make your judgment whether to buy this film or not.
I have watched approx 600 films in my life and have a collection of over 200 Blu-Ray's and I rate this one 8/10.

O Brother, Where Art Thou? [2000] [DVD]

Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on September 18, 2013

This is a brilliant fast paced comedy. It is set in America during the Great Depression, late 1930's, and follows a trio of escaped criminals seeking buried treasure and their fortune. The three encounter many mishaps on their way, each being a separate scene. There is prejudice in many forms and most are covered on their journey in the deep south. Many difficult facts about this time and the prejudices that came along with them are covered in a light hearted and even funny way. All well that ends well in this film; that includes wonderful folk/country music and George Clooney wearing a hairnet you couldn't ask for more. Also a good introduction to America at this time for any secondary school age student.
