Introducing the EMI Student Portal
The Student Self Service Portal allows you to print or download Independent Study (IS) Completion Certificates, Student IS Transcripts (for personal or employer use) and Official IS Transcripts (for educational institutions only). Please review the IS FAQ’s for more information.
Spanish Language Courses
EMI is introducing a limited number of IS courses that have been translated to the Spanish language. You can find the complete list of courses in the Spanish language course list.

We will be performing scheduled maintenance on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at 7:00 AM ET. Service is expected to be restored by 10:00 AM ET. However, this could run over. During this time Independent Study exams, Online Admissions, NETC Transportation, IMDA, STAR and the EMI Student Portal will not be available. All School Courses Suspended for the fiscal year 2020
All School courses (E/L0360, E0361, E0364) have been suspended for fiscal year 20 for review.

EMI School Program
EMI offers school officials courses supporting the implementation of NIMS as well as general courses aimed at building school emergency management capacity.
National Incident Management System Courses
The U.S. Departments of Homeland Security and Education recommend all key personnel involved in school emergency management and incident response take the NIMS, ICS, and NRF training courses and support the implementation of NIMS. Currently, key personnel are required to complete four courses in order for an individual or organization to be considered NIMS compliant through FY 2007.

To date, the following courses are required:
- IS-100.c: Introduction to the Incident Command System, ICS 100
- IS-200.b: ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents
- IS-700.b: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System
- IS-800.c: National Response Framework, an Introduction
The following additional courses are recommended for leadership personnel:
- ICS 300 Intermediate Incident Command System
- ICS 400 Advanced Incident Command System
