Finale Desserterie Has Closed its Doors

The sweet restaurant served its last indulgences over the weekend.

If giving up sweets is your 2016 New Year’s resolution, this news may make it just a bit easier. Finale, a dessert restaurant and bakery at the Park Plaza, has closed its doors for good.

Boston Restaurant Talk reported the imminent closure before the weekend, and the Boston Business Journal touched base with cofounder Paul Conforti to confirm Sunday was the Finale’s finale.

“It was a great run, but the lease is expiring in 2016 and ownership made the business decision to close,” Conforti told the BBJ.

Finale previously had locations in Harvard Square, Coolidge Corner, and Natick, in addition to the downtown Boston shop. Under executive pastry chef Jessica Haight, the restaurants served dessert tasting menus, chocolate sampling menus, and other speciality desserts, as well as savory lunch and dinner small plates, cocktails, and coffee drinks. It also offered cakes, cookies, and pastries to go.

Some of Finale’s desserts could live on at the forthcoming Vivra Chocolate Studio, slated for a springtime opening in Park Square. An employee at the Walpole-based Vivra Chocolate company confirmed it’s opening its first café this year.

Conforti opened Finale in 1998 with cofounder Kim Moore.
