Madison Golf Courses: The Breakdown

The City of Madison maintains four public courses, listed below. Some private clubs are open to the public; we’ve included those in our listing.

Public Golf Courses

Bridges Golf and Restaurant is located on the north side of Madison and is open to the public. It has 18 championship holes, a driving range, a practice bunker and two practice and putting and chipping greens. They feature a restaurant, Omar’s Food. They also host outings, league play, junior golf and Footgolf.

Cherokee features an 18-hole championship course that’s open to the public. It provides memberships, instructional programs and a year-round driving range. The course winds through protected wetlands and is maintained at PGA Tour standards.

Glenway is a 9-hole public course located on Madison’s near west side and features a par-32 course. It’s known for its tree-lined fairways.

Monona Golf Course is a 9-hole public course located on Madison’s east side. The par-36 course features bunkered fairways and green, a driving range, and a fully-equipped clubhouse. They also host outings.

Odana Hills is an 18-hole public golf course located on the west side. The par-72 course hosts several city tournaments. Includes a large putting green and driving range, along with a lounge, locker rooms, pro shop and foot service.

Located on Madison’s west side, the University Ridge Golf Course is a public course and the official home course of the University of Wisconsin men’s and women’s golf teams. The course also features cross country skiing in the winter.

Vitense is a unique Madison institution. It features two 18-hole miniature golf courses, and a 9-hole par-3 golf course that’s open to the public. They also feature a year-round driving range and golf lessons. They’ve also added a number of family-focused recreational activities, such as a rock wall, batting cages, a trampoline game and more.

Located ½ mile east of I-90, Yahara Hills features a 36-hole public course and is Madison’s largest facility. It has two 18-hole championship courses, with large bunkered greens, hazards, and water features. It includes a 40,000 square foot putting green and a driving range. It has hosted numerous national and state tournaments.

Disc Golf

Madison Parks offers three disc golf courses seasonly. Hiestand and Elver are open late spring through early fall and Yahara Hills is open late fall through early spring. A daily or annual permit is required to play at each of the courses.
