Golf In Vero Beach — Discovering Vero Beach

Vero Beach and Indian River County have the ideal climate to go along with 19 courses which attract golfers from around the globe. Many of these courses have been designed by the top names in the business. In this section of my website I provide you with some basic information about each course as well as the website and phone number for each course.

Public Courses:

Sandridge Golf Club: Sandridge is owned and operated by Indian River County and has two 18 hole championship courses. Both the Dunes Course and the Lake course were designed by Ron Garl. Sandridge has secured a reputation as one of the top public golf destinations in the state of Florida.

Sebastian Municipal Golf Course: Designed by Charles Ankrom, the 18 hole “Sebastian” course is located at The Sebastian Municipal Golf Course facility, This course features 6,717 yards of golf from the longest tees.

Vista Plantation Golf Club: This is an 18 hole semi-private par 62 course designed by Arthur Hills. It offers challenges for every level plus 17 of the 18 holes touch water.

Private Courses:

The Moorings Yacht & Country Club: The Moorings has an 18 hole course on the barrier island designed by Pete Dye as well as the 18 hole Hawk’s Nest course on the mainland designed by Jim Fazio. Both courses were certified by The Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for golf courses.

Pointe West Country Club: This course was developed in 1999 and was designed by John Sanford. It was created on a site which had been an old citrus grove.

Indian River Club: This course which was designed by Ron Garl was designated an Audubon Signature Sanctuary by Audubon International in 1995. It has the feel of a woodland preserve with gently rolling terrain.

Bent Pine Golf Club: This Pete Dye course was described in Links Magazine as one of “Golf’s Best Kept secrets”. It is situated on 220 acres and is surrounded by citrus groves, Florida pines and ranch land with 8 scenic lakes.

Quail Valley Golf Club: Designed by Tom Fazio II and Nick Price, The Quail Valley Course is located on 280 acres which challenge all player ability levels. Included in the 280 acres are 60 acres of waterways and an elevation up to 62 feet.

Vero Beach Country Club: Originally laid out in the 1920’s, The Vero Beach Country Club course has had numerous enhancements since the late 1990’s. The result is a course with plenty of variety as well as risk vs. rewards strategies.

Grand Harbor Golf & Beach Club: Grand Harbor has two courses designed to provide challenges for all levels of play. The Harbor Course is a classic Pete Dye designed course while The River Course was designed by Joe Lee.

Windsor: The par 72 Windsor golf course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and features a traditional course design. Gently rolling fairways are surrounded by a variety of native Florida trees.

Orchid Island Golf & Beach Club: The Orchid Island Course was designed by Arnold Palmer. The layout challenges players of all skill levels and this course is certified in The Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program. The backdrop for this award winning course includes Florida oaks, native grasses and tropical landscaping.

John’s Island: The residences of John’s Island are on the barrier island along with 2 of their 3 championship 18 hole golf courses. The North Course was designed by Pete Dye and features views through old oaks to the Indian River Lagoon. The South Course presents well bunkered greens and water hazards on a course laid out by Jack Nicklaus and Pete Dye. Then on the mainland, The West Course was designed by Tom Fazio. It is a 300 acre course on a natural sand ridge and features impressive elevation changes. The West Course is considered one of the more challenging courses in the country.

Riomar Country Club: The oldest golf course in Vero Beach is the course at The Riomar Country Club on the island and was built in 1919. Riomar Country Club is located in the central beach area and their 18 hole course features 7 holes which run along the Atlantic Ocean. The course underwent a major renovation by Tom Fazio II and Nick Price in 2015 and is considered an Old Florida style course.

Redstick Golf Club: Redstick has a very exclusive reputation with only 275 members and just golf. You will find no tennis courts, no pools, no yoga classes and no dinners. The course was laid out by Rees Jones and features sweeping fairways of Bermuda grass surrounded by oaks and pines.
