After spending a morning wandering the Galleria, you need a mod place to drop your Neiman Marcus, Balenciaga, and Valentino bags at your feet and eat. And that doesn’t always mean the bar at Saks Fifth Avenue. Enter: JOEY Uptown.

From the minds of Vancouver-based JOEY Restaurant Group, this luxe, new restaurant is most definitely a Texas-sized tropical oasis. Enjoy your lunch inside the spacious, 8,434-square-foot interior, which features lots of plants, leather seating, a large Bocci lighting, prints from Texas artist Jon Flaming, a living green ceiling, and a wine wall.

Or sip a glass of wine outside on the fabulous, 1,854-square-foot patio, which features a retractable roof, perfect for those sudden rain showers during Houston summers.

“We’re thrilled to expand down South with the addition of JOEY Uptown to our collection of restaurants,” said Layne Krienke, president of the JOEY Restaurant Group, in a statement. “Texas and JOEY hospitality go hand-in-hand, as we have both garnered a reputation for genuine warmth and care. We recognized Houston’s passionate foodie scene and are honored to be a part of this restaurant community.”

The menu, crafted by JOEY Restaurants executive chef Chris Mills and executive director (and a Top Chef Canada winner) Matthew Stowe, features a little something for everyone. Enjoy appetizers like roasted corn guacamole, Szechuan tofu lettuce wraps, and steak and lobster ravioli while sipping on the spot’s wide selection of wines.

For your main dish, whatever your mood, JOEY probably has it, from spaghetti pomodoro and prime New York strips steak to tuna poke bowls and sushi to burgers. Water it all down with one of JOEY’s exclusive cocktails, like the Hurricane Crush and the Mai Tai Crush (there’s also a secret menu—order the Ranch Water).

JOEY Uptown opens July 28. 5045 Westheimer Rd. Ste X-01, The Galleria. Learn more here.
