Personally I would skip this place. Yes, the view on the lawn was beautiful and they allowed us to have our dogs with us. However, the prices are insane. I got a Caesar salad and had to ask for some parm cheese as they were charging $16 for lettuce and dressing. An additional $8 will get you some bland basic chicken as well. They also brought out a salad with croutons after I was very explicit about being GF. The waitress even said she designated that on the ticket. The second salad arrived shortly afterward. The waitress was very patient with my questions. Overall the food was decent but disappointing for the price. We got there before they opened to get a reservation and we were able to get in right away but if you’re there later, the wait will be a long one.

This place had very long waits when we visited, so we didn’t get to actually dine at the restaurant. It also closes pretty early, at 5 pm when we were there. I think the key is to go to the check in window before you walk around the Jordan Pond area and get your name on the list, and then you have something to do while waiting. The folks at the check in window were very nice and pulled the allergen menu for me. I’m including a pic so others can see the gluten free options. They sadly don’t have any gluten free popovers, but I’ve been told by non-celiacs that the popovers weren’t even good, so I try to view it as not a big loss. The restaurant has nice views of the pond area and seems charming. Definitely worth a stop during your trip!

Definitely worth the wait. You can sign up for a time slot and then go explore. We Had a fantastic meal today after hiking. Outdoor dining was pandemic-safe and a beautiful view.
Many choices on the menu. I had lobster Niçoise salad which was terrific. Sampled my family’s lobster stew and Salmon catch of the day. Both GF. Some blueberry sorbet for dessert.

The hostess was gluten-free, so I trusted her when she said I could eat safely. I’m glad I did. The food was good and I had a lot of choices. They have a GF ciabatta roll, so I could have had many of the sandwiches, but I selected the Niçoise salad and enjoyed it very much. No popovers, of course, but I was pleased that I could eat with my family inside Acadia National Park.

Not celiac or gfree friendly during covid. All sandwiches had been pre-made. You can’t even just get the chicken salad, lobster, or turkey/cheese bc it’s already on the bread. My only option on the entire menu was a very small side salad (nothing special) and veggies and hummus. I’d had higher hopes after reading reviews here, and regret not packing my own lunch. Lots of hiking and little to fuel my body for it.

I had a late lunch here after vigorous hike up Pemetic Mountain. The menu isn’t labeled gf nor are the famous popovers but our server was knowledgable about what is or could be made gf. I had the lobster salad Nicoise salad and a very funky cider and didn’t get sick.

I was so happy to discover how gluten free and knowledgeable the staff is, here. My family has been coming to the Jordan Pond House for years and I didn’t want to say no this year, just because I was recently diagnosed with celiac disease. While it was heartbreaking to have to forgo the popovers this year, I was thrilled that almost everything else on the menu was either GF or could be. The server told me that they have tried many times to do a GF popover, but they haven’t been able to. Regardless, I could enjoy their fabulous lemonade and a very tasty sandwich.

The waitress was really attentive and brought me their gluten free menu, which doesn’t have all their gluten free options on it. They also have Udi’s bread and most of their sandwiches can be made gluten free.

Staff was knowledgeable and took care with my allergy. Let me know what was safe to order on the menu. They had sandwich bread – safely ate the BLLT sandwich with homemade chips without any adverse reactions. Would highly recommend.

Review

They have some gluten free options on their menu. Unfortunately, our waitress was not knowledgeable and didn’t seem too worried about allergies/sesitivities when I had questions. I had the blueberry sorbet (not on the gluten free menu, but naturally gluten free) and it was tasty. I didn’t have any adverse reactions.

The staff was very knowledgeable about GF options and they made my food separate. Just wish the popovers were GF lol Been twice so far and very enjoyable. Going to get a BLTT to go for my whale/puffin cruise!

They do a nice job with a good number of options and nice touches like GF bread to substitute for the baguette on the cheese plate.

There is no substitute for the popovers, which are a signature item but there may not be much to be done about that.

The staff lacks training – our waitress last night was clueless about the allergy and what was safe to order. There is only one entree on the menu that is celiac friendly – the chicken. It is very good, just more options would be nice. All the chowders and stews were also GF. There is also the option of a salad (remind them no croutons). Avoid the lunchtime crowds and come for dinner. There are much better places to eat (for those with celiac) but it is part of the Acadia experience eating here.
Note: I rated it celiac friendly because the chefs handle the prep well, and I’ve never gotten sick here. However, be very clear with the servers about your allergy needs.
