The 18 hole, par 70, Pinehurst No.2 course was first opened in 1907. It was designed by Donald Ross who called it “the fairest test of championship golf I have ever designed.” In February 2010 the design firm of Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw began the arduous task of restoring this course to Ross’ original vision. This restoration project included removing some 35 acres of Tifway Bermuda fairways and reintroducing hardpan, natural bunker edges and native wire grasses. The greens are Ultradrawf Bermuda grass.  Pinehurst No. 2 has hosted a multitude of championships, most notable, the 2014 Men’s and Women’s U.S. Open Championships (the first time in history one course has ever hosted both championships back to back in the same year).
