New restaurant: Kyle G to open Oak and Ember in downtown Stuart where LouRonzo’s closed

Local restaurateur Kyle Greene is opening a fifth location on the Treasure Coast.

Greene is opening another Oak & Ember Steakhouse in downtown Stuart, in the former location of LouRónzo’s, he announced on his Facebook page.

“I have some very exciting and fresh renovations planned for the space,” he wrote, “and I am anticipating being open by the end of the year just in time for the holidays.”

Restaurants in PSL, Jensen Beach

Green opened his first restaurant, Kyle G’s Prime Seafood & Steaks, in September 2017 along Ocean Drive in Jensen Beach. He developed his vision for that oceanfront restaurant while working as a teenager in that same building, chopping vegetables in the kitchen of the former Rottie’s restaurant. He returned to that building in 2013 as executive chef of Pietro’s on the Ocean before it closed.

“Growing up in this community,” Greene wrote, “I have always loved this location and have had many great dinners and evenings in this building.”

Greene then opened Hutchinson American Kitchen, also along Ocean Drive in Jensen Beach, and renamed it Kyle G’s Kitchen. He also opened Oak & Ember Steakhouse and Kyle G’s Oyster & Wine Bar, both in Port St. Lucie.

LouRonzo’s in Stuart closed

LouRónzo’s was one of the most popular fine dining restaurants in Martin County.

Ronald Werner and Munir “Louis” Shapo opened the restaurant in 2014. Werner, an 18-year resident, wanted to create a unique fine dining experience with outstanding service. He died in November 2018, but Shapo kept the business going.

The restaurant temporarily closed in March 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic, but reopened by November with a new general manager, chef and menu.

It was open through the beginning of April. TCPalm does not know when or why it closed.
