NYC Rapper Nas Opens Fried Chicken and Waffles Joint on Fairfax Starting April 20

Fairfax continues to burn white-hot with restaurants these days, including the addition of soon-to-open Sweet Chick in the former Rosewood Tavern space. As previously revealed, the restaurant New York ties include owner John Seymour as well as investor Nas.

The place is already a hit back east, but the infusion of Nas’s cash has helped to propel the highly anticipated company to the West Coast and hopefully on to other outlets across the country. For now the team will be focusing on their first big leap, with an opening on the main Fairfax drag slated for April 20.

Of course, there’s stiff competition for Sweet Chick both locally and in the broad fried chicken market across Los Angeles. On the same stretch of pavement the Badmaash team is planning a future restaurant, and further down Jon & Vinny’s (where Kanye is reportedly a regular) continues to push the tempo with big nightly business. On the fried chicken front, Gus’s World Famous is already in local expansion mode with a second outlet coming to Burbank soon, as is Howlin’ Ray’s in Chinatown. Still, more quality fried chicken is always good news, particularly when paired with waffles all the way.
